Women are underrepresented in the society, and especially in the news. It is only during the last years that things started changing. It was not until people started to acknowledge this and realizing it is a big problem that the change started to take place. By understanding the impact of media convergence on the news production, we can also see the challenges and advantages that comes with it. To understand how these two are associated, a case study on SVT Nyheter Västerbotten has been done. Through interviews, observations, literature studies and quantitative data a result is presented. It shows that SVT Nyheter Västerbotten have a model that lead them to a successful development towards gender equality in the news. They are not the only ones that tried it, but almost the only ones that kept on with it.
