Gasa eller bromsa? Digitala välfärdsteknikens framfart i äldreomsorgen : En Kvalitativ studie i Askersund kommun och Örebro kommun

This essay conducts a qualitative analysis of the integration and challenges of digital welfare technology in elderly care within Askersund and Orebro municipalities in Sweden. This study is timely and significant due to the rapid demographic shifts in Sweden, particularly the projected increase in the elderly population, emphasizing an urgent need for adaptive measures in the welfare sector. Central to this essay is the exploration of how these two municipalities navigate the complexities of integrating digital welfare technology into their elderly care services. The study uses Talbot's model to understand the dynamics of public and process interests in implementing such technology. This theoretical approach allows for an in depth examination of how each municipality, with their unique demographic, organizational and responds to the implementation challenges. Key aspects of this study include examining the readiness and response of elderly individuals to digital welfare technology, the challenges faced by healthcare personnel due to knowledge gaps, and the broader societal implications of these technological advancements. The essay also delves into the ethical considerations and the need for balance between technological efficiency and the quality of human-centered care. The findings highlight the diverse strategies employed by Askersund and Orebro and the challenges encountered in the process. The study contributes to a broader understanding of digital welfare technology in elderly care, emphasizing the importance of competency development, ethical deployment of technology, and the impact of regulatory and strategic guidelines from higher authorities.
