existência humana, podendo gerar satisfação ao acarretar sentidos além dos
econômicos para os trabalhadores (ARAÚJO; SACHUK, 2007). Tendo por
premissas, as características e motivações para o trabalho voluntário, princípios da
ética protestante do trabalho e a transformação social do sentido do trabalho, o
objetivo do estudo é compreender os sentidos do trabalho voluntário para membros
de uma igreja protestante luterana. Para compreender como se apresentam e se
formam os sentidos do trabalho na instituição religiosa pelos participantes da
pesquisa, escolheu-se a perspectiva construcionista social, a partir da “determinação
histórico-cultural” e da linguagem utilizada para sustentá-la (RASERA; JAPUR,
2005). Antes, foi necessário delimitar uma ética luterana do trabalho, a partir da ética
protestante (WEBER, 2004), reflexões do próprio Martim Lutero e de teólogos
luteranos (BRAKEMEIER, 1994, 2010; DREHER, 2005); e entender sobre trabalho
voluntário (CALDANA; FIGUEIREDO, 2008; HILL; DEN DULK, 2013; LIMBERGER,
2011; PAIXÃO, 2004; SILVA, 2004b). Adotou-se a abordagem qualitativa de
pesquisa e os dados foram obtidos em documentos e também por meio de
entrevistas e observação não-participante de reuniões da diretoria de um sínodo da
igreja luterana no sudeste do Brasil. Para análise dos dados, foi utilizada a
perspectiva de que a produção de sentidos é uma atividade-fim por ser o resultado
que a pesquisa almeja, e atividade-meio, por ser uma forma de interpretação dos
dados (SPINK; LIMA, 2004). Utilizou-se o mapa de associação de ideias, para
análise do conteúdo do corpus em questão, identificando-se categorias de
entendimento no decorrer da pesquisa, baseadas no conteúdo e na sequência lógica
do discurso (SPINK; LIMA, 2004). Com isso, chegou-se a oito sentidos do trabalho
para os voluntários da igreja luterana estudada, que estão interligados entre si e ao
contexto de modo diferente para cada sujeito. Cabe à gestão ficar atenta a essas
questões subjetivas, para melhoria do trabalho e manutenção e crescimento da
organização. / Work is a form of social relationship, constituting one of the main factors of human
existence, which can generate satisfaction when it leads workers to meanings
beyond the economic (ARAÚJO; SACHUK, 2007). Under the premises of the
characteristics and the motives to volunteer work, the decay of the protestant ethics
of work and the social transformation in the meaning of work, the aim of this study is
to understand the meanings of volunteer work among the members of a Lutheran
protestant church. To this aim, a social constructionist perspective was chosen to
understand how the meanings of work are presented and formed from the “historical
cultural determination” and the language used to sustain it (RASERA; JAPUR, 2005).
It was necessary to delimit a Lutheran ethics of work through the protestant ethics
(WEBER, 2004), and the reflexions of Martim Luther himself and other Lutheran
theologians (BRAKEMEIER, 1994, 2010; DREHER, 2005); and to understand about
volunteer work (CALDANA; FIGUEIREDO, 2008; HILL; DEN DULK, 2013;
LIMBERGER, 2011; PAIXÃO, 2004; SILVA, 2004b). A qualitative approach to
research was adopted and the data were gathered in documents and also through
interviews and not-participant observation of the board meetings of a Lutheran
church synod in Southeast Brazil. To analyze the data, it was used the perspective
that the production of meanings is a target activity, because it is the result aimed by
the research, and a support activity, because it is a means for interpreting the data
(SPINK; LIMA, 2004). The Association of Ideas Map technique was used to analyze
the content of the corpus in question, identifying categories of understanding
throughout the research, based on the content and logical sequence of discourse
(SPINK; LIMA, 2004). Thus, eight meanings of work for volunteers in the Lutheran
church studied were reached, which are interconnected with each other and the
context in different ways for each person. The management is incumbent upon being
attentive to these subjective issues to the improvement of work and maintenance and
growth of the organization.
