Previous issue date: 2017-03-02 / CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This work presents the research on the Festivities of Saint Sebastian held in the Catholic parish and in a terreiro of Umbanda, in the city of Parintins (AM). It aimed to understand the symbolic relationship experienced by Catholics and Umbandists in the feasts of St. Sebastian and the relationship built by the interlocutors with the territory conquered via occupation of the lands of the present districts that are part of the parish today. In this context, the access of collective memories by the devotees in the two festivities (Catholic and Umbandist) was observed as a basis for the behavior and attitudes of the individuals of each religious community, in which identity bonds are established between the groups with their territories and with the Saint. The methodology used was bibliographic review and ethnographic research with the parish, Terreiro and participants in territorial occupations. The study points out that the Catholic and Umbandist communities, located in the neighborhoods of the parish of Saint, Itaúna and Jacaréacanga, remember the conquest of the house in the 1990 and in the year 2012. Once the residents received St. Sebastian as patron saint together with the territory for which they fought, with the resistance of the parintinense social movement. Thus, the parties became a place of memory, of building collective identity and updating a past that belongs to the city, capable of attributing territorial, social and religious identity to the groups. / Este trabalho apresenta resultados da pesquisa sobre as Festas de São Sebastião realizadas na paróquia católica e em um terreiro de umbanda, na cidade de Parintins (AM). Busca compreender qual a relação simbólica vivenciada por católicos e umbandistas nas festas de São Sebastião e a relação construída pelos interlocutores relativa ao território conquistado por via da ocupação de terras dos atuais bairros que, atualmente, fazem parte da paróquia. Nesse contexto, observou-se as expressões da memória coletiva pelos devotos nas duas festas (católica e umbandista), como base para comportamentos e atitudes dos indivíduos de cada comunidade religiosa, na qual se constrói laços de identidade entre os grupos com seus territórios e com o santo. A metodologia utilizada ancorou-se na revisão bibliográfica, estabelecendo-se uma interlocução com os autores pesquisados, bem como aportou na pesquisa etnográfica junto aos interlocutores da Paróquia, do Terreiro e participantes das ocupações territoriais. O locus da pesquisa são as comunidades católica e umbandista, localizadas nos bairros componentes da paróquia do Santo, Itaúna e Jacaréacanga, e resgata, pela memória coletiva, a conquista da casa própria, na década de 1990 e ano de 2012. Por fim, o estudo interpreta, simultaneamente, a realção entre os moradores que, pela crença, conceberam São Sebastião como padroeiro, benfeitor de conquistas junto ao território pelo qual lutaram e a resitência do movimento social parintinense na luta pela conquista da terra. Assim, as festas se tornaram lugar de memória, de construção de identidade coletiva e atualização de um passado que pertence à cidade, capaz de atribuir sentimento identitário territorial, sociais e religioso aos grupos.
