Previous issue date: 2013-05-13 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In 2008, the Government of Pará authorized transvestites and transsexuals to use their social names at public schools. Focusing on this event, we grounded on theories developed by the philosopher Michel Foucault to examine the effects of social name policy as a strategy for school inclusion of travestities and transsexuals. We describe life stories of eight travestites/transsexuals interviewed, and also present pieces of information produced in various situations, to problematize the government of transvestites and transsexuals through inclusion policy. To build the field in which this study is situated, we discuss how knowledge of transvestites and transsexuals experiences are fabricated as a problem. The ministerial order that establishes the social name is, as well, understood as a governamentality strategy and we give visibility to their elaboration process as well as oppositions and difficulties faced in implementation process. Finally, we present the effects of this legislation. These effects are not reducible to the desired insertion of the target public at schools because they also cover their potential to produce modes of subjectification. We intend to demonstrate that such policy creates tension zones between normalization strategies of modes of living and practice of resistance. It is argued that educational inclusion of diverse modes of living depends on multiple factors, and inclusion policies are only one of these many aspects / Em 2008, o governo do Estado do Pará autorizou o uso do nome social para travestis e transexuais em todas as unidades escolares da rede pública. Diante desse acontecimento, fez-se uso das teorizações do filósofo Michel Foucault para analisar os efeitos da política do nome social como estratégia de inclusão escolar de travestis e transexuais. Parte-se de histórias de vida de oito travestis/transexuais entrevistadas, além de outras informações produzidas em situações diversas, para problematizar o governo de travestis e transexuais por meio de uma política de inclusão. Para a construção do campo no qual este estudo se insere, apresentam-se os saberes que produzem a travestilidade e a transexualidade como um problema. Do mesmo modo, circunscreve-se a Portaria do nome social como uma estratégia de governamentalidade, dando visibilidade ao seu processo de formulação, assim como as oposições e dificuldades de implementação encontradas. Por fim, apresentam-se aos efeitos da legislação em questão, efeitos estes não redutíveis à almejada inserção do seu público-alvo nas escolas, pois abrangem também o seu potencial em produzir modos de subjetivação. Procura-se demonstrar que tal política cria zonas de tensão entre estratégias de normalização das formas de viver e as práticas de resistência a elas direcionadas. Defende-se que a inclusão escolar da diversidade de modos de viver depende de múltiplos fatores, sendo as políticas de inclusão existentes apenas um dentre esses muitos aspectos
