Previous issue date: 2016-02-23 / In this research, we analyzed the oral history of three transvestites who live in the downtown area of the City of São Paulo. Our objective was to know about the violence to which they are subjected throughout their lives and ways of resistance they have developed. We could see through the life stories that transvestites have historically been victims of various types of rights violations and other miscellaneous violence. In order to provide a detailed discussion of the situations reported in the interviews, we separate violence suffered in physical and psychological. The family context, the experience on the street, the relationship with the police and with clients appeared as environments or situations in which the physical and psychological violence more happened in the stories studied. The three interviewed are people who do not live with their families and not have graduated because of prejudice in the family and school environment; one was crack user and the others are still, although they make sporadic use; one lives in a boarding house, another is in the streets and the third lives with a group in an "invasion ; all have prostituted themselves, but two, because they have partners, left prostitution; two are beneficiaries of social programs and only one had no police detention experience. Overall transvestites developed resistance strategies in the face of sustained violence such as: avoidance, use of laughter, violent retaliation by being beaten and migration. We concluded the research with the suggestion that further research be conducted to deepen knowledge about the violence suffered by transvestites and their forms of resistance and confrontation, we also suggest that these studies can be database for implementation of public policies to prevent and combating violence / Na presente pesquisa analisou-se a história oral de três travestis que vivem na região central da cidade de São Paulo com o objetivo de conhecer as violências a que são submetidas ao longo de suas vidas e as formas de enfrentamento que elas desenvolveram. Ao analisar as histórias de vida que as travestis compartilharam, percebeu-se que elas são historicamente vítimas de vários tipos de violações de direitos e outras violências diversas. Visando proporcionar uma discussão detalhada das situações relatadas nas entrevistas, as violências sofridas foram separadas em físicas e psicológicas. O contexto familiar, a vivência na rua, a relação com a polícia e com os clientes apareceram como ambientes e ou situações nos quais as violências físicas e psicológicas ocorreram com maior frequência. As três entrevistadas são pessoas que não moram com suas famílias, não concluíram os estudos em decorrência de preconceitos no ambiente familiar e escolar; uma delas foi usuária de crack e as duas outras ainda são, embora façam uso esporádico; uma mora em pensão, outra está em situação de rua e a terceira vive com um grupo em uma ocupação ; todas já se prostituíram, porém duas, por possuírem companheiros, deixaram a prostituição; duas são beneficiárias de programas sociais e apenas uma não teve experiência de detenção policial. De modo geral as travestis conseguiram desenvolver estratégias de enfrentamento diante das violências sofridas, tais como: esquiva, uso do riso, revide violento ao serem agredidas e mudanças de cidade. Concluiu-se a pesquisa com a sugestão de que outras pesquisas sejam realizadas a fim de aprofundar o conhecimento sobre as violências sofridas por travestis e suas formas de resistência e enfrentamento. Sugere-se também que estas pesquisas possam ser base de dados para implementação de políticas públicas de prevenção e enfrentamento à violência
