Previous issue date: 2017-03-10 / Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo investigar a relação da sustentabilidade, em suas diversas dimensões, com o espaço construído de comunidades e ecovilas do sul de Minas Gerais, Brasil, apresentando e analisando as relações identificadas, com o intuito de refletir sobre e difundir possibilidades e alternativas de planejamento, organização e construção do espaço, no contexto atual de crises ambiental, urbana e social. As técnicas utilizadas para a investigação foram a pesquisa blibliográfica e a pesquisa de campo, que empregou entrevistas e observações para o conhecimento da realidade dos objetos de estudo e a apreensão dos aspectos a serem investigados. As categorias de análise – dimensões Social, Econômica, Ecológica e Cultural da Sustentabilidade - foram definidas com base na revisão bibliográfica, que proporcionou, junto da vivência e observação do trabalho de campo, fundamentos para se definir critérios de análise diretamente relacionados à proposta de investigação. A pesquisa mapeou treze experiências, oito delas foram analisadas. Os procedimentos adotados para a análise e julgamento da abordagem e aplicação dos critérios de análise construídos foram de natureza qualitativa. As relações das dimensões da sustentabilidade com o espaço construído foram apresentadas através de tabelas, gráficos e mapas esquemáticos, que deram suporte para a análise. Os resultados demonstram que todas as dimensões têm relações com o espaço construído e que novas relações com espaço e com os seres vivos, baseadas em princípios de justiça, igualdade, solidariedade e sustentabilidade podem ser construídas. As experiências analisadas podem ser tidas como experimentos de assentamentos humanos sustentáveis, e as práticas e técnicas ali desenvolvidas e aplicadas são soluções inovadoras de construção do espaço e possíveis alternativas às práticas convencionais. Porém, reconhece-se que sua aplicação em grande escala é um desafio e o modo de vida praticado nestas experiências ainda é restrito. / This research intended to investigate the relationship of sustainability, in its various dimensions, with the built space of communities and ecovillages in the south of Minas Gerais, Brazil, presenting and analyzing the relationships identified, with the aim of reflecting on and diffusing possibilities and alternatives for planning, organizing and building space, in the context of environmental, urban and social crises. The techniques used for the investigation were the bibliographical research and the field research, which used interviews and observations for the knowledge of the reality of the objects of study and the apprehension of the aspects to be investigated. The categories of analysis - Social, Economic, Ecological and Cultural dimensions of Sustainability - were defined based on the bibliographical review, which provided, together with the experience of the field work, grounds for elaborating analysis criteria directly related to the research proposal. The research mapped thirteen experiments, and eight of them were investigated. The procedures adopted for the analysis and judgment of the approach and application of the constructed analysis criteria were qualitatives. The relationships of the dimensions of sustainability with the built space were presented through tables, graphs, and schematic maps, supporting the analyzes. The results show that all dimensions have relationships with built space and that new relationships with space and living beings, based on principles of justice, equality, solidarity and sustainability can be built. The experiences analyzed can be considered as sustainable human settlements experiments, and the practices and techniques developed and applied there are innovative space construction solutions and possible alternatives to conventional practices. It is recognized that their large scale application is a challenge and the way of life practiced in these spaces is still restricted.
