Previous issue date: 2016-08-09 / Esta pesquisa investiga os impactos da implantação do sistema de cotas na UFPE sobre o desempenho acadêmico geral e a evasão, após o advento da Lei nº 12.711/2012. Para analisar a eficiência dessa política pública de inclusão social, utilizou-se como amostra os estudantes cotistas e não-cotistas, ingressantes no período de 2013 a 2015, nos cursos presenciais, do campus Recife. As hipóteses testaram a ocorrência de uma influência negativa das cotas no rendimento dos discentes e na evasão. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo com testes estatísticos através do software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), mais precisamente, Teste T para Amostras Independentes e ANOVA. Inicialmente, foram testados todos os cursos, depois um agrupamento menor com duas entradas anuais, utilizando apenas seus primeiros semestres. Conclui-se que as médias obtidas pelos não-cotistas são maiores, porém essa diferença é pouco significativa. Nota-se uma evolução no rendimento dos cotistas no interstício examinado. Quanto à evasão, os alunos da livre concorrência interrompem mais os estudos. Este trabalho evidenciou a necessidade de acompanhar o desempenho acadêmico, fornecendo suporte pedagógico aos cotistas. Tal monitoramento visa à permanência dos alunos, uma vez que o ingresso pela Lei das Cotas não garante a conclusão do curso. Avaliar o progresso dessa ação afirmativa permitirá que medidas corretivas sejam adotadas durante sua vigência, assegurando a continuidade da UFPE como universidade de referência. / This research investigates the impact of the implementation of the quota system at UFPE on the overall academic performance and university dropout, after the creation of Law nº 12.711/2012. In order to analyze the efficiency of this public policy of social inclusion, it was used as a sample quota students and non-quota holders, who have entered university from 2013 to 2015, on classroom courses, of Recife Campus. The hypotheses have tested the occurrence of a negative influence of the quotas in the academic performance of students and university dropout. This is a quantitative study with statistical tests using the software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), more precisely, T test for independent samples and ANOVA. Initially, all courses were tested, then a smaller group with two annual entries, using only their first semesters. The conclusion is that the average grade obtained by non-quota students is higher, although this difference is not significant. It is noted an evolution on quota students performance in the interstices examined. As for the dropout, non-quota students quit their studies more often. This work has showed the necessity to monitor the academic performance by providing pedagogical support to quota-holders. Such monitoring intends to ensure students retention, once the entry by the Quota Law does not guarantee the course conclusion. The evaluation of the progress of this affirmative action will enable the adoption of corrective measures during its term, ensuring the continuity of UFPE as a reference university.
