Previous issue date: 2014 / A criação de empresas de base tecnológica tem sido cada vez mais reconhecida como um importante elemento para o desenvolvimento econômico brasileiro. Nesse contexto, estão as startups, organizações com alto potencial de crescimento, cujo desenvolvimento pode ser potencializado em incubadoras de empresas. Não foram identificados trabalhos científicos que demonstrem a relação do capital intelectual no sucesso das startups incubadas, considerando-se o capital humano, como o estrutural e o relacional. Dessa forma, o objetivo desta tese é desenvolver um modelo para analisar a influência do Capital Intelectual no sucesso de startups incubadas. Para o alcance do objetivo geral, foram estabelecidos os seguintes objetivos específicos: determinar os construtos de CI em startups incubadas, identificar critérios para analisar o CI em startups incubadas, definir o sucesso de startup incubada e desenvolver e aplicar um instrumento para analisar a influência do capital intelectual nas startups incubadas. O procedimento metodológico foi estruturado em três grupos de atividades: consulta à literatura; desenvolvimento; e comprovação empírica. A consulta à literatura envolveu a coleta e seleção da literatura referente aos temas capital intelectual, incubadora, indicadores de desempenho, maturidade e fatores de sucesso e startup. No desenvolvimento, ocorreu a determinação dos construtos de CI em startups incubadas e a identificação dos critérios para análise do CI em startups incubadas, a definição do sucesso de startup incubada e a elaboração do instrumento para coleta e análise dos dados. E na comprovação empírica, foi validado o instrumento com seis gestores de incubadoras da região Sul do Brasil e realizada a aplicação em 21 startups incubadas, sendo que 04 delas de insucesso, 06 graduadas e 11 incubadas. Com a aplicação do modelo foi possível identificar que o capital intelectual tem influência no sucesso de startups incubadas, sendo que o capital humano é o mais relevante. Como em uma startup o empreendedor é o principal representante dessa dimensão, sua motivação e comprometimento refletem diretamente no sucesso das empresas. O capital estrutural foi o de segundo maior impacto, envolvendo, entre outras coisas, o planejamento e a estrutura física recebida da incubadora. Por último, capital relacional, que se refere, principalmente, à interação com a incubadora e as relações de longo prazo com clientes e fornecedores. Os resultados desta pesquisa contribuem para a convergência de grandes temas e possibilita o avanço e a consolidação do entendimento de como as áreas se relacionam para influenciar no sucesso de novas empresas, neste caso, startups incubadas.<br> / Abstract : The creation of technology-based companies has been increasingly recognized as an important element for the Brazilian economic development. Inserted in this context, are the startups, organizations with high growth potential, which development can be leveraged by business
incubators. Scientific studies that demonstrate the relationship of intellectual capital (IC) in the success of incubated startups, considering human capital, such as structural and relational hasn t been identified. Thus, the aim of this thesis is to develop a model to analyze the influence of intellectual capital on the success of incubated startups. To achieve the overall objective, the following specific objectives were established: determine the constructs of IC in incubated startups, identify criteria for analyzing IC in incubated startups, define the success of incubated startup and develop and implement a tool to analyze the influence of intellectual capital incubated startups. The methodological procedure was divided into three groups of activities: literature review; development; and empirical evidence. The literature review involved the collection and selection of the references concerning intellectual capital issues, incubator, performance indicators, maturity and success factors and startup. At the development activity occurred the determination of the IC constructs related to startups incubated and also the identification of criteria for analyzing IC incubated startups, and the definition of what is a successful incubated startup. Possessing these definitions was developed the instrument for data collection and data analysis. At the empirical evidence activity, the instrument was validated with six incubator managers from southern Brazil and later then was applied as 21 incubated startups, 04 of them were an unsuccessful business, 06 have been graduated and 11 still incubated. With the application of the model, we found that intellectual capital has influence on the success of incubated startups, and that human capital is the most relevant dimension. As a startup entrepreneur is the main representative of this dimension, their motivation and commitment directly reflect the success of businesses. Structural capital has the second greatest impact, involving, among other things, the design and the physical structure received from the incubator. The relational capital has the third impact on the success of incubated startups; it refers mainly to the interaction with the incubator and long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. The results of this research contribute to the convergence of major issues and enable the advancement and consolidation of understanding how the areas relate to influence the success of new businesses, in this case, incubated startups.
