Previous issue date: 2016 / Esta dissertação diz respeito aos espaços públicos em centros urbanos e como estes se transformam ao longo do tempo, alterando também a forma como seus usuários apropriam-se de seu espaço físico. Para debater a questão, realizou-se um estudo de caso sobre a Praça Nereu Ramos em Joinville, Santa Catarina. Por ser uma praça central com origem na formação da primeira colônia de imigrantes europeus estabelecida no local, sua história é paralela à história de formação da região central da cidade, que é neste texto brevemente explanada, a título de contextualização. A Praça sofreu algumas transformações ao longo de sua existência, e estas são aqui narradas através de uma divisão em três períodos nos quais tratam-se não apenas das transformações em seu espaço físico, mas também das transformações referentes às formas de apropriação deste espaço pelas pessoas. Em um segundo momento, descreve-se a Praça Nereu Ramos atual no que diz respeito à sua inserção na malha urbana, sua configuração espacial, seus usuários e os eventos que ali ocorrem cotidianamente ou esporadicamente. Através da pesquisa histórica, documental, realização de inúmeras entrevistas, observações de campo e a criação de desenhos e mapas, a história da Praça e dos hábitos de seus usuários é contada e analisada, tendo como resultado algumas reflexões a respeito da relação entre história, transformações espaciais e uso do espaço pelas pessoas. Por fim, após a análise de todos os dados levantados, encerra-se este texto com algumas inferências de tendências sobre o futuro do objeto de estudo desta pesquisa, tanto em relação ao seu desenho quanto aos eventos que abriga e seus usuários.<br> / Abstract : This dissertation concerns public spaces in urban centers and how they transform through time, also changing the way their users relate to the physical spaces. To discuss the issue, a case study about Nereu Ramos Square, located in Joinville, Santa Catarina, was carried out. As a central square originating from the formation of the first colony of European immigrants established on the spot, its history parallels the history of formation of the central region of the city, which is briefly explained in this text, to contextualize. The Square suffered some transformations throughout its existance, and these are here narrated through a division into three periods in which not only transformations in the square physical space are dealt with, but also the transformations regardig the way people appropriate its space is discussed. In a second moment, Nereu Ramos Square is described in its current form, regarding its insertion into the urban mesh, its space configuration, its users and the events that occur daily or sporadically. Through the historical and documental research, inumerous interviews, field observations and the creation of drawings and maps, the history of the Square and the habits of its users are told and analyzed, resulting in some reflections on the relation among history, space transformations and the use of space by people. Lastly, after the analyzis of all data collected, this text is closed with some inferences of trends regarding the future of the study object, both in terms of its design and the events and users it hosts.
