O fenômeno da psiquiatrização do social é tratado nesta pesquisa, a partir de uma perspectiva dialética, proposta por BERTOLINO (1991), que aborda seu desenvolvimento sócio-histórico recorrendo às noções tese psiquiatrizante, antítese despsiquiatrizante e síntese pós-psiquiatrizante. Através deste enfoque dialético foi construída a ferramenta de análise, por meio da qual distingueu-se as produções de tendência psiquiatrizante das de tendência despsiquiatrizante. Os resultados apontam que na academia brasileira, o embate dialético entre tese psiquiatrizante e antítese despsiquiatrizante desenvolve-se eqüitativamente em termos quantitativos, guardadas certas diferenças qualitativas; e que a produção de tendência despsiquiatrizante ocupa-se de temáticas muito próximas às elaboradas pelos agentes da Reforma psiquiátrica Italiana.
This dissertation presents a review of the Brazilian scholarly production in the field of mental health over the period from 1990 to 1997, analysing the psychiatrization of the social life. This phenomenon is examined in a dialectical perspective, proposed by BERTOLINO (1991), who approaches its sociohistorical development adopting the notions of the psychiatrizing thesis, the dispsychiatrizing antithesis and the post-psychiatrizing synthesis. With this dialectical focus, the analytic tool was constructed for distinguishing the psychiatrizing tendencies from the dispsychiatrizing ones. The findings show that, among the Brazilian scholars, the dialectical debate between the psychiatrizing thesis and the dispsychiatrizing antithesis develop equitatively in quantitative terms, with certain qualitative differences; and that the production of dispsychiatrizing tendencies deals with themes closely related to those elaborated by the agents of Italian Psychiatric Reform.
