É essa noção de adequação que nos permite falar em um bom leitor. A literatura é aqui definida como arte e símbolo verbal da imaginação da experiência humana. Ela se caracteriza, portanto, como uma atividade de comunicação. Antes da apresentação da tese em si, investigamos três problemas fundamentais: primeiro, o sentido moral da linguagem, em que apresentamos as implicações entre a linguagem, a realidade e a relação com a alteridade; segundo, a sabedoria da imaginação, ou seja, o que seria o conhecimento próprio das obras e da tradição literária; terceiro, o modo próprio como esse conteúdo se articula nas obras por meio das personagens e da voz do texto.Considerando esses componentes da comunicação literária, afirmamos que a interpretação da obra não é o mesmo que a sua análise. O conteúdo das obras de arte literárias não se oferece como informação objetiva e a sua leitura não corresponde ao procedimento analítico. A leitura será, então, caracterizada por um tipo de atenção capaz de apreender e compreender obras literárias como alteridades, não como objetos. A ética da leitura é, portanto, o horizonte dentro do qual o leitor exerce a sua atenção em relação ao outro simbólico. Essa dinâmica implica a compreensão de uma voz e de um drama alheios, em relação aos quais o chamado bom leitor empreende uma inteligência especial, caracterizada por uma abertura à experiência alheia, que denominamos intelecção amorosa. / This thesis proposes the concept of loving intellection to define the principles and the most appropriate ways to read literary works of art. It is this notion of adequacy that allows us to speak of a “good reader”. Literature is here defined as art and verbal symbol of the imagination of the human experience. It is characterized, therefore, as an act of communication. Before presenting the thesis itself, we will investigate three key issues: first, the moral sense of language, in which we present the inter-relations between language, reality and otherness; secondly, the wisdom of the imagination, i.e., what would be the own knowledge of the works and literary tradition; Thirdly, the very way that content is articulated in the works through the characters and the text voice. Considering these components of literary communication, we state that the interpretation of the work is not the same as its analysis. The content of literary works is not offered as objective information and its reading does not match the analytical procedure. The reading will then be characterized by a kind of attention able to grasp and understand literary work as otherness, not as object. The ethics of reading is therefore the horizon within which the reader exerts his attention towards the symbolic otherness. This dynamic implies the understanding of someone else's voice and drama, for which the so-called “good reader” undertakes a special intelligence, characterized by an opening up to other people's experience, which we call loving intellection.
