Partindo das representações andróginas (Capítulo 3), passando pelas tópicas literárias centradas na metáfora náutica (Capítulo 4) para, por fim, analisar as representações feminilizadoras dos parceiros cortejados (Capítulo 5), nossa Tese desabona a compreensão corrente sobre o masculino e o feminino no epigrama erótico helenístico: separados conforme o sexo/gênero pela tradição (cristã e tardia), tais epigramas jamais foram conhecidos, na Antiguidade, segundo esta concepção; ademais, a manutenção da separação dos epigramas em diferentes livros pela Antologia Palatina (livro 5, ou das cortesãs, e livro 12, ou dos cortesãos) escamoteia um importante traço cultural entre os Gregos, a saber: o da unidade das representações de gênero no âmbito do epigrama erótico helenístico. / Developing, on one hand, a study of the editing criteria for the erotic epigrams in the context of anthologies which took place in Ancient Times (Chapter 1), and on the other, a study of the categories of male and female in Ancient Greece (Chapter 2), our research analyses the representations of gender in the range of the erotic epigrams during the Hellenistic age of the Greek Literature. Starting out from the androgynous representations (Chapter 3), passing through the literary topoi focused on nautical metaphors (Chapter 4) to, finally, consider the femaling representations of the wooed partners (Chapter 5), our thesis discredits the current understanding about the masculine and feminine in the Hellenistic erotic epigram which are separated according to sex/gender by the late Christian tradition. Such epigrams had never been known in Ancient Times, according to this conception; furthermore, the maintenance of the partition of epigrams in different books of the Palatine Anthology (book 5 – “Amatory epigrams” or the female courtesans, and book 12 – “Strato's Musa Puerilis”, or the male courtesans) forges an important cultural trait among the Greeks, namely: the unity of the gender representations within the scope of the Hellenistic erotic epigrams.
