Mas, a partir da intervenção dos princípios da sociedade do consumo, essa relação ganhou proporções de produção e consumo, onde o homem passou a tratar o ambiente natural como produto que gera consumo. Dessa forma, ambientes naturais como o litoral que, inicialmente, era utilizado como tratamento terapêutico, durante a modernidade passou a ser explorado como atividade turística economicamente viável. Esse tipo de turismo trouxe consequências, dentre essas a perda de identidade da comunidade local e a degradação do ambiente. Com base nessa problemática, surgiu este trabalho intitulado “O Litoral leste do Ceará: lazer e turismo à luz da educação”. O objetivo geral foi avaliar o processo de estruturação do turismo de sol e mar no litoral leste do Ceará, reconhecendo os caminhos da transformação do litoral a partir da cidade de Fortaleza e identificando alternativas educativas para o turismo sustentável. Para construção deste trabalho, foram utilizadas teorias sobre litoral, turismo, lazer e educação. Na metodologia utilizou-se uma amostra que constou de moradores e turistas das localidades Balbino, Caponga e Águas Belas. Foram utilizados como instrumentos e técnicas para a coleta de dados fotografias, história oral, observação e questionários aplicados com trezentos sujeitos, cento e cinquenta turistas e cento e cinquenta moradores das referidas localidades. Os dados coletados foram organizados em três categorias que se subdividiram em 15 subcategorias. Para análise foram utilizados dois softwares: Nudist* para análise dos dados descritivos e SPSS para os dados numéricos. But, from the intervention of consumer society principles, this relationship gained proportions of production and consumption, where man started treating the natural environment as a product that generates consumption. Thereby, natural environments like the coastline, which was initially used as therapeutic treatment, during modernity, became an explored element and seen as tourist activity economically viable. This type of tourism has brought consequences, among these, the loss of the identity of local community, environmental degradation. Based on this issue, this work appeared under the title “The East coast of Ceará: leisure and tourism under education perspective”. The general objective was to evaluate the process of structuring the sun and sea tourism on the east coast of Ceará, recognizing the coastline paths of transformation from Fortaleza city and identifying educational alternatives for sustainable tourism. For construction of this work, were used theories about coastline, tourism, leisure and education. For methodology was used a sample, which was constituted by residents and tourists from: Balbino, Caponga and Águas Belas localities.
