A partir de referencial teórico-metodológico de inspiração marxista, (a pedagogia histórico-crítica e o materialismo histórico-dialético), refletimos sobre a educação ambiental, o currículo e a pedagogia histórico-crítica para, na articulação entre tais objetos de estudo, entender como uma educação ambiental de referencial histórico-crítico, que tem nos conteúdos escolares nucleares instrumentos para a formação humana, pode contribuir para qualificar a educação ambiental que se insere nas escolas da educação básica e, desta forma, contribuir para a transformação da realidade socioambiental contemporânea / The school environmental education - although it was present by legal instruments and practices experienced in schools across the country - still manifests itself in weakened from, away from central curricular activities and teacher education. The objective of this research was to analyze the opportunities of environmental education insertion in primary shools in Brazil through a critical perspective of education. From theoretical and methodological framework of Marxist Inspiration, (the historical-critical pedagogy and the historical and dialectical materialism), we reflect on environmental education, curriculum and historical-critical pedagogy, and on the relationship between such objects of study, understand as an environmental education historical-critical reference thas has content in school core instruments for the human, can help to qualify the environmental educaiton that forms part of the basic education shools and thus contribute to the transformation of contemporary social and environmental reality
