Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: Esta dissertação apresenta a recuperação histórica da profissão enfermagem destacando o surgimento, a regulamentação e a qualificação inseridas na formação Técnico de Enfermagem. Esta se estratifica como uma divisão interna da profissão fundamentada no credenciamento escolar. Para isto, relata uma vertente da trajetória da profissão enfermagem objetivando reconstituir a legitimação deste saber específico em relação ao saber médico. Depoimentos orais de Técnicos de Enfermagem, em um hospital público da cidade de Americana-SP, foram obtidos utilizando-se de entrevista semi-estruturada. Para tanto, analisou-se aspectos ligados à jurisdição e exercício da profissão enfermagem no Brasil, a trajetória da educação profissional bem como a qualificação das mulheres, presença quase totalitária na profissão, que permeia o cuidar da enfermagem e sua legitimação na relação salarial. Destaca-se assim, a importância da educação formal, o aval do Estado e a identidade coletiva da profissão / Abstract: This dissertation presents the historical recovery of the nursing profession, emphasizing the beginning, the regulation and the qualification inserted in the education of Nursing Technicians which is considered as a internal division of the profession based on school registering. In order to do that this study relates one aspect of the nursing profession aiming to reconstruct the legitimation of this specific knowledge in relation to the medical knowledge. Declarations of nursing technicians in a public hospital in Americana were obtained through semi-structural interviews. After that, the aspects liked to the regulations and the performance of the nursing profession in Brazil were analysed as well as women qualification who are almost all in the profession that surrounds the nursing care and its legitimation in the salary relation. In this way, the formal education, the state agreement and collective identity of the profession are emphasized. / Mestrado / Educação, Sociedade, Politica e Cultura / Mestre em Educação
