Previous issue date: 1996 / Resumo: O tabagismo é um dos fatores de risco mais importantes para a doença arterial coronariana. Vários de seus efeitos são descritos como mediadores da sua aterogenicidade: cardiovasculares diretos, oxidativos, trombogênicos e dislipidêmicos. Entretanto, de acordo com a literatura, um grande número de fumantes não apresenta dislipidemias, a despeito da frequente redução dos níveis plasmáticos de colesterol de lipoproteínas de densidade alta (HDL-col). Com o objetivo de avaliar os efeitos do fumo sobre a concentração de diferentes lípides e a composição bioquímica das lipoproteínas plasmáticas, oito homens fumantes crônicos de cigarros sob o efeito agudo do fumo foram estudados. Sete homens não fumantes e um ex-fumante constituíram o grupo controle. Realizou-se o teste oral de tolerância à gordura, e mediu-se entre o jejum e 8 horas após a ingestão, os níveis plasmáticos de triglicérides, colesterol total e HDL-col. Mediu-se também em jejum e 4 horas após a dieta, colesterol, triglicérides, fosfolípides e proteínas nas diferentes frações e subfrações das lipoproteínas plasmáticas separadas por ultracentrifugação. Demonstramos que fumantes e não fumantes não diferiram quanto aos níveis plasmáticos em jejum de triglicérides, colesterol e HDL-col, havendo nos fumantes uma tendência a menores níveis de triglicérides e colesterol e a maiores níveis de HDL-chol. Estas tendências persistiram respectivamente para colesterol, triglicérides, fosfolípides e proteínas nas frações de lipoproteínas de densidade muito baixa (VLDL) e lipoproteínas de densidade baixa (LDL) (menores níveis) e 'HDL IND. 2¿ (maiores níveis), tanto no jejum quanto no período pós-dieta, exceto triglicérides para LDL e 'HDL IND. 2¿ no jejum. Houve aumento significativo de fosfolípides de 'HDL IND. 2¿ nos fumantes em jejum com tendência a aumento na relação lípides/proteínas indicando a presença de partículas de 'HDL IND. 2¿ mais ricas em lípides neste grupo. Os fumantes não foram intolerantes à gordura; as curvas pós-dieta tenderam inclusive a menores níveis de triglicérides plasmáticos. Nos fumantes houve uma correlação positiva e significativa entre todos os componentes de VLDL com o peso e o índice de massa corpórea (IMC) e também uma correlação negativa e significativa entre colesterol, proteínas e fosfolípides de 'HDL IND.2¿ com o peso corporal e IMC, sugerindo uma regulação destes componentes lipídicos pelo tecido adiposo nos fumantes. Estes resultados em conjunto sugerem que fumantes crônicos moderados normolipidêmicos sob o efeito agudo do fumo apresentam lipólise periférica aumentada via aumento da atividade da lipoproteína lipase, o que justifica os níveis aumentados de fosfolípides de 'HDL IND. 2¿ / Abstract: Cigarette smoking is one of the most important risk factors for coronary artery disease. Many of its effects are described as mediators of its aterogenicity: direct cardiovascular, oxidatives, trombogenics and dislipidemics. However, according to the literature, a great number of cigarette smokers does not have dislipidemias, despite the fact of frequent presence of lower levels of cholesterol plasma in high density lipoproteins (HDL-chol). To test the effects of cigarette smoking on the plasma levels of different lipids and on the biochemical composition of plasma lipoproteins, chronic male smokers under the acute effect of cigarette smoking were studied. The contrai group was formed by male non smokers and one ex-smoker. The oral fat tolerance test was applied, and the levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol and HDL-chol were determined between fasting and eight hours after the ingestion of fat. Cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and protein on the different plasma lipoprotein fractions and some subfractions separated by ultracentrifugation, were analysed in fasting and four hours after the oral diet. We showed that smokers and non-smokers do not differ in their plasma triglyceride, cholesterol, and HDL-chol plasmatic levels during the fasting period. The smokers showed a tendency to lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels and to higher HDL-chol levels. These tendencies persited respectively for cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipids and proteins in very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) (Iower levels) and ¿HDL IND. 2¿(higher levels) in both fasting and post diet periods (except for tryglicerides in fasting to LDL and ¿HDL IND. 2¿). In smokers, ¿HDL IND. 2¿-phospholipidswere higher in the fasting period, with atendency toward a ratio of higher lipids to proteins, showing the presence of ¿HDL IND. 2¿ particles richer in lipids in this group. The smokers were not fat intolerant; in fact, the post-diet curves tended to show lower plasma triglyceride levels. In smokers there was a positive and significant correlation between ali the VLDL components with the weight and body mass index (BMI); and there was a negative and significant correlation between cholesterol, proteins and ¿HDL IND. 2¿- phospholipide with the weight and BMI, suggesting a regulation of these plasma lipid components by the adipose tissue in this group. Ali these results suggest that chronic moderate normolipidemic smokers under the acute effect of cigarette smoking have higher peripheral lipolysis, through incresead activity of lipoprotein lipase, justifying the significant higher plasma levels of ¿HDL IND. 2¿-phospholipids / Mestrado / Mestre em Educação Física
