Previous issue date: 2000 / Resumo: Esta dissertação tem como foco central a cidade de São Paulo, observada à luz das teorias psicanalíticas de Sigmund Freud e Jacques Lacan. Trata a cidade como corpo e revela, através da análise de situações urbanas, sua estrutura. Acompanhado da realização de um curta metragem finalizado em vídeo, elabora a questão do tabu organizador do espaço urbano. Conceitos como inconsciente, libido, desejo, gozo, são apenas alguns dos articuladores utilizados nesta construção, que para além do foco especifico, São Paulo, discorre sobre a situação das metrópoles contemporâneas. Pensando, com Argan, a história da arte como a história das cidades, ainda vale destacar a inserção da arte nestes espaços públicos como Arte Pública, sendo uma das saídas possíveis para a questão da arte e da cidade neste novo milênio / Abstract: The core focus of this paper is the city of São Paulo, observed at the light of the psycho-analytical theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. It treats the city as body and reveals its structure through the analysis of urban situations. Followed by a video short film, it addresses the question of the taboo which organizes the urban space. Concepts such as the unconscious, desire, orgasm, libido, are just some of the articulators used in this work, which, beyond the specific focus, São Paulo, talks about the situation of the contemporary metropolises. Thinking, together with Argan, about the history of art as the history of the cities, it is still worth stressing the presence of art in these public spaces as Public Art, which may be considered one of the possible solutions to the question of art and of the city in this new millenium / Mestrado / Multimeios / Mestre em Multimeios
