Previous issue date: 2011-11-17 / The Brazilian species of Myrtaceae family comprises several arborescent and shrubby plants that can be used to produce fruit for fresh consumption or industrialization. Due to these species importance, commercial products and usefulness in environmental restoration as well as the fact that they are propagated mainly through sexual reproduction the demand for sufficient quantity and quality of seeds is increasing. The objective of this study is to use different substrates and temperatures in the germination test of Accasellowiana (O. Berg) Burret. (goiaba-serrana), Campomanesia xanthocarpa O. Berg (guabiroba), Eugenia involucrata DC. (cereja-do-mato) and Eugenia pyriformis Camb. (uvaia) seeds; characterize the germination process and describe and illustrate the seedlings external morphological structures of A. sellowiana and P. cattleianum; verify the ability of E. involucrata seeds to germinate from the fractionation method and perform the physiological classification of A. sellowianaseeds with regard to desiccation tolerance and storage, and to verify the influence of drying methods on seed quality. The germination test substrates were tested on sand and germitest paper towel roll under temperatures of 15 ° C, 25 ° C, 20-30 ° C, 30 ° C and 35 ° C. In characterizing the morphology of seedlings, the root, cotyledon and foliage leaf of hypocotyl and epicotyl were illustrated and analyzed. The study consisted of fractionation treatments: control (seeds without fractionation), and fractions (seeds fractionated with a scalpel, transversely and longitudinally, where a half remained with hilum and the other without). The physiological classification of A. sellowiana seeds was performed through the drying and storage and the study of drying methods was conducted by treatments means: control (without drying), slow drying and fast drying. The germination test can be conducted at 25 ° C in a paper roll substrate for E. involucrata and E. pyriformis, and both substrates for A. sellowiana, and 25 ° C and alternating 20-30 ° C on sand and paper roll substrates and to C. xanthocarpa. The P. cattleianum and A. sellowiana germination is epigeous and phanerocotyledonal, forming seedling root system with axial pivoting long taproot with paracotyledons and simple eophylls, opposites. Fractionation uses is not efficient to maximize seeds lots, because germination is directly affected. A. sellowiana seeds are
probably intermediate in relation to physiological classification, and the type of drying does not affect the quality of seeds / As espécies brasileiras de Myrtaceae compreendem diversas plantas arbóreas e arbustivas que podem ser utilizadas na produção de frutos para consumo in natura ou para industrialização. Devido à importância dessas espécies, tanto para comercialização de produtos quanto para recomposição ambiental, e ao fato de serem propagadas principalmente via sexuada, a demanda por sementes em quantidade e qualidade adequadas é crescente. Objetivou-se com esse trabalho: testar diferentes substratos e temperaturas para realização do teste de germinação em sementes de Acca sellowiana (O. Berg) Burret. (goiaba-serrana), Campomanesia xanthocarpa O. Berg (guabiroba), Eugenia involucrata DC. (cereja-do-mato) e Eugenia pyriformis Camb. (uvaia); caracterizar o processo de germinação, e descrever e ilustrar as estruturas morfológicas externas das plântulas de A. sellowiana e P. cattleianum; verificar a capacidade das sementes de E. involucrata germinarem a partir do método de fracionamento e realizar a classificação fisiológica de sementes de A. sellowiana quanto a tolerância à dessecação e ao armazenamento, assim como, verificar a influência de métodos de secagem em sua qualidade. Para o teste de germinação foram testados os substratos sobre areia e rolo de papel tipo germitest e as temperaturas de 15 ºC, 25 ºC, 20-30 ºC, 30 ºC e 35 ºC. Na caracterização morfológica das plântulas foram realizadas ilustrações e analisadas características da raiz, do hipocótilo e epicótilo, dos cotilédones e protofilos. O estudo de fracionamento consistiu nos tratamentos: Controle (sem fracionamento) e Frações (sementes fracionadas transversalmente, onde metade permaneceu com hilo e outra metade sem hilo; sementes fracionadas longitudinalmente, onde metade permaneceu com hilo e outra metade sem hilo). A classificação fisiológica das sementes de A. sellowiana foi realizada por meio de secagens e armazenamento e o estudo sobre métodos de secagem foi conduzido por meio dos tratamentos: Controle (Sem Secagem), Secagem Lenta e Secagem Rápida. O teste de germinação pode ser conduzido na temperatura de 25 ºC e em substrato rolo de papel para E. involucrata e E. pyriformis, e em ambos os substratos para A. sellowiana, e a 25 ºC e alternada 20-30 ºC em substratos rolo de papel e areia para C. xanthocarpa. A germinação de P. cattleianum e A. sellowiana é epígea fanerocotiledonar, formando plântula com sistema radicial axial, raiz principal pivotante longa, com paracotilédones e eofilos simples, opostos. A utilização de fracionamento não é eficiente para maximização de lotes de sementes, pois a
germinação é diretamente afetada. Sementes de A. sellowiana provavelmente são intermediárias em relação à classificação fisiológica, e o tipo de secagem não influencia na qualidade das sementes
