The analysis is preceded by a discussion of the conceptions attributed of the practices and the approach of the National Program Library of School PNBE, which has been the largest distributor of
literary works among the Brazilian public schools. Furthermore, we made a brief overview of the emergence of children s literature in Brazil and the importance of
literature in the school context to then reach the central part of this study which are representations of reading (more specifically literary) present in the narratives that circulate in Brazilian public schools through government procurement. Thus, the work aims to contribute to the formation of the reader literary manners, to improve the reading public polices in Brazil and for understanding the relationship between
literature for children and youth, reading and school. / Esta dissertação apresenta um estudo sobre as representações da leitura na literatura infantojuvenil contemporânea, a partir de um corpus constituído pelas narrativas que integram o Programa Nacional Biblioteca da Escola PNBE versão 2009: Amigos Secretos (2009) de Ana Maria Machado; Assassinato na Biblioteca (2009) de Helena
Gomes; Beto, o analfabeto (2008) de Drummond Amorin; Letras finais (2008) de Luís Dill; O Mágico de Verdade (2008) de Gustavo Bernardo; O Mário que não é de Andrade (2008) de Luciana Sandroni; O mundo é pra ser voado (2006) de Vivina de Assis e Pode me beijar se quiser (2009) de Ivan Ângelo. A análise é precedida da discussão das concepções atribuídas à leitura e suas práticas e da abordagem do
Programa Nacional Biblioteca da Escola PNBE, que vem sendo o maior distribuidor de obras literárias entre as escolas públicas brasileiras. Ademais, foi feito um breve panorama do surgimento da literatura infantil no Brasil e da importância da literatura no contexto escolar para, então, chegar à parte fulcral deste estudo que são as representações de leitura (mais especificamente, as literárias) presentes nas narrativas
que circulam nas escolas públicas brasileiras por meio de compras governamentais. Assim, o trabalho pretende contribuir para a formação do leitor literário em idade
escolar, para a melhoria das políticas públicas da leitura no Brasil e também para a compreensão das relações entre a literatura infantojuvenil, leitura e a instituição escolar.
