Previous issue date: 2015-03-26 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / This research aimed to analyze the ideas of middle-school students in relation to mathematics and science, from their oral and written expressions, during the modeling process - Modeling in Education - to identify the Literacy and Scientific Competence of these students. The adopted methodological procedure consisted of four steps, called Maps. Namely: Identification map on which we present data and information justifying the choice of the research theme, objectives and methodological procedures that guide it. Theoretical map in which theories are presented on Modeling in Education, Literacy, Scientific Competence and Mental Models and, recent research synthesis to place this search in a map production; Field map in which we present the application description of the Didactic activity and the organization of empirical data from the Teaching Activity performed with two classes of 7th year of middle-school of basic education; Analysis map that shows the analysis based on six categories and stages of modeling. It was identified in the first step of modeling, perception and apprehension that students are scientifically literate, since they appear to have competence in identifying scientific issues, however, the other stages, understanding and explanation and meaning and expression, students had difficulties to achieve competence required to explain scientific phenomena and use scientific evidence, respectively. The results were satisfactory, as students advanced in terms of Literacy and Scientific Competence, even though non-linearly. / Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as ideias de estudantes do Ensino Fundamental, em rela??o a Matem?tica e Ci?ncias, a partir de suas express?es, oral e escrita, durante o processo de Modela??o ? Modelagem na Educa??o ? a fim de identificar a Alfabetiza??o e Compet?ncia Cient?ficas desses estudantes. O procedimento metodol?gico adotado consistiu em quatro etapas denominadas de Mapas. A saber: Mapa de Identifica??o no qual apresentam-se dados e informa??es que justificam a escolha do tema de pesquisa, objetivos e procedimentos metodol?gicos que a orientam. Mapa Te?rico no qual apresentam-se teorias sobre Modelagem na Educa??o, Alfabetiza??o e Compet?ncia Cient?ficas e Modelos Mentais, bem como s?ntese de pesquisas recentes para situar esta pesquisa em um mapa de produ??es. Mapa de Campo no qual apresentam-se a descri??o da aplica??o da Atividade Did?tica e a organiza??o dos dados emp?ricos oriundos da Atividade Did?tica realizada com duas turmas de 7? ano do Ensino Fundamental da Educa??o B?sica. Mapa de An?lise no qual ? apresentada a an?lise com base em seis categorias e nas etapas da Modela??o. Identificou-se na primeira etapa da Modela??o, percep??o e apreens?o, que os estudantes s?o alfabetizados cientificamente, pois mostraram ter compet?ncia em identificar quest?es cient?ficas. No entanto, nas demais etapas, compreens?o e explicita??o e significa??o e express?o, os estudantes apresentaram dificuldades para atingir a compet?ncia que requeria explicar fen?menos cient?ficos e utilizar evid?ncias cient?ficas, respectivamente. Os resultados mostraram-se satisfat?rios, pois os estudantes avan?aram em termos de Alfabetiza??o e Compet?ncia Cient?ficas, mesmo que de forma n?o linear.
