Previous issue date: 2016-07-29 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / The present dissertation aims to analyze the English language questions in ENEM by using the Argumentation Within Language (AWL) theory made by Oswald Ducrot, Marion Carel and collaborators. As its main goal, it is aimed at proposing a reading concept under the ANL theoretical background and investigating in which way this theory may display the meanings within the discourse in order to help in the referred exam questions comprehension. As this national exam has received a careful attention in the last couple of years, since it is an exam which demands from its candidates the comprehension of key-texts, being the ones which are several times enough for choosing the most suitable answer, it is believed that the analysis of the ENEM English language questions enables a considerably fruitful window of opportunity for study, once the discourse made by the key-texts of the questions leads the candidate to choose only one alternative, which corresponds to the discourse produced in the key text, being the other ones from the other alternatives not authorized. The ANL theory is an argumentative semantics theory and analyzes the meaning of utterances in the linguistic level by using semantic blocks. The primary objective here is to analyze the construction of meaning in the utterances of the exam questions, so that it may be possible to find the most suitable answer in the linguistic level, using the analysis of produced discourses in the key-texts, comparing the argumentative chaining and semantic blocks to the alternatives and the correct answer. This dissertation aimed at doing it based on the linguistic level in order to understand the meaning production in the discourse level. According to Ducrot, the nature of language is essentially argumentative and not informative, since argumentation is the principle that directs linguistic production. / Este trabalho tem como tema a an?lise de quest?es de l?ngua inglesa do Exame Nacional do Ensino M?dio (ENEM) com base na teoria da Argumenta??o na L?ngua (ANL) de Oswald Ducrot, Marion Carel e colaboradores. Como objetivos, busca-se propor um conceito de leitura sob o vi?s da ANL e investigar de que forma essa teoria pode explicitar os sentidos do discurso a fim de auxiliar a compreens?o das quest?es do referido exame. Como o ENEM tem ganhado nos ?ltimos anos uma aten??o muito cuidadosa, pois demanda dos candidatos a compreens?o de textos-chave, os quais s?o muitas vezes suficientes para a elei??o da resposta adequada, acredita-se que a an?lise das quest?es de l?ngua inglesa da prova do ENEM possibilita um estudo muito frut?fero, uma vez que o discurso produzido pelo texto-chave das quest?es leva o candidato a escolher apenas uma alternativa, a qual corresponde ao discurso constru?do no texto-chave, sendo n?o autorizados os discursos das outras alternativas.A Teoria da Argumenta??o na L?ngua ? uma sem?ntica argumentativa e analisa o sentido de enunciados no n?vel lingu?stico por meio de blocos sem?nticos. Tem-se como raz?o desta pesquisa a constru??o do sentido nos enunciados das perguntas do exame, de forma a encontrar respostas a n?vel lingu?stico, utilizando-se das an?lises dos discursos produzidos nos textos-chave, comparando os encadeamentos argumentativos e blocos sem?nticos das alternativas e a resposta correta. Isso foi feito apoiando-se no lingu?stico para a compreens?o o sentido no discurso. De acordo com Ducrot, a l?ngua ? essencialmente argumentativa e n?o informativa, uma vez que a argumenta??o ? o princ?pio que norteia toda produ??o lingu?stica.
