Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil / Esta pesquisa visa a investigar as narrativas de doença em torno do sofrimento psíquico \2013 com ênfase em depressão e suicídio \2013 entre adeptos do candomblé, de modo a elucidar como ele é construído, compartilhado e percebido por quem oferece e demanda cuidado no terreiro; as múltiplas inserções sócio-institucionais dos sujeitos entrevistados; e os itinerários de informação e conhecimento envolvidos na construção pessoal e social da doença mental nos Axés. A metodologia centrou-se uma etnografia descritiva aliada à realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas construídas para elicitar narrativas de adoecimento/sofrimento com iniciados e não-iniciados (mas participantes do terreiro). Essas entrevistas foram baseadas na aplicação do instrumento MINI McGill Narrativa de Adoecimento. Foram realizadas 11 (onze) entrevistas e o trabalho de campo envolveu três terreiros de candomblé, dois no Estado do Rio de Janeiro e um na cidade de Salvador, BA. Os dados coletados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo, tendo sido as entrevistas codificadas individualmente e os códigos obtidos organizados por temáticas
A seguir, construíram-se categorias analíticas a partir dos códigos recorrentes e de idiossincrasias, buscando cotejá-los com o conteúdo das entrevistas e o material de coleta primária no campo etnográfico. Obtiveram-se 9 (nove) grandes categorias, que foram combinadas entre si na redação da análise dos resultados, dividida em cinco grandes tópicos: a conexão entre loucura e a busca por cuidado em saúde no candomblé; protótipos e modelos causais de sofrimento; normatividade, itinerários terapêuticos e literacy em saúde (mental); a experiência de suicídio e, por fim, o papel dos terreiros como (re)construtores de identidade e suas possibilidades (e limites) como sítios de cuidado / This study aims to investigate illness narratives about mental suffering

between Candomblé adepts, in turn to elucidate how it is
constructed, shared and perceived by people who offers and demands care in the
Candomblé communities; the social and institutional insertions of the subjects; and the
knowledge and information itineraries evolved in personal and social construction of
mental illness in the Axés. The methodology was focused on a descriptive ethnography
research allied to semi-structured interviews constructed to elicit narratives of
illness/suffering of initiated and not initiated people (but who takes part in
terreiro
).
These interviews were based on the instrument McGill MINI Narrative of illness. There
were made eleven interviews and the field work was made in three
terreiros
of
Candomblé, two of them in Rio de Janeiro and one in the city of Salvador, BA. The
collected data were submitted to content analysis. The interviews were coded
individually and the codes organized by themes. After that, there were built analytic
categories based on the frequent and awkward codes, in deal with the interviews‘
content and the primary collect of data in the ethnographic field. There were obtained
nine general categories, which were combined during the writing of the analysis of the
results, divided in big five topics: the connection between insanity and the search for
health care in Candomblé; prototypes and causal models of suffering; normativity,
therapeutic itineraries and (mental) health literacy; suicide experience and, finishing, the
function of the
terreiros
for the (re)construction of identity and its possibilities (and
limits) as places of care.
