A adoção de novas tecnologias com o objetivo de intensificar o processo produtivo da bovinocultura de corte tem aumentado nos últimos anos. A irrigação de pastagem é uma alternativa em ascensão e o presente estudo objetivou determinar a viabilidade econômica da terminação de bovinos através da mensuração dos custos de produção e dos indicadores financeiros. Foram avaliados três sistemas de engorda em pastagens cultivadas e irrigadas com pivô central (S1, S2 e S3) na Fronteira Oeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os animais foram pesados na entrada e na saída das pastagens com o objetivo de calcular a produtividade (PR; kg/ha) e a receita total (RT; R$/ha). Mensalmente, foram coletados os dados para gerar os custos de produção - custos fixos, variáveis, de oportunidade do capital e da terra, custo desembolsado, operacional e total (CT). As produtividades foram de 369, 772 e 637 kg/ha para os sistemas S1, S2 e S3, respectivamente. O S2 apresentou o maior CT (2.101,59 R$/ha), enquanto que o menor foi obtido pelo S1 (1.626,93 R$/ha). Na análise média do custo operacional, os itens que apresentaram maiores valores foram a implantação de pastagem (486,35 R$/ha), energia elétrica (308,70 R$/ha), manutenção da pastagem (200,04 R$/ha) e a depreciação (154,69 R$/ha). Quanto às margens, os sistemas S1, S2 e S3 apresentaram valores, respectivamente, de 33,46, 1.162,55 e 701,01 R$/ha para margem bruta; -63,51, 955,40 e 541,05 R$/ha para margem operacional; e -583,18, 291,61 e -28,99 R$/ha para margem líquida. A rentabilidade no período analisado foi de -0,47, 4,37 e 3,01%, já a lucratividade foi de -5,94, 39,92 e 27,38 para S1, S2 e S3 respectivamente. O sistema produtivo que apresentou resultado positivo na avaliação financeira indica a viabilidade econômica da tecnologia de irrigação na terminação de bovinos em pastagem. / The adoption of new technologies with the aim of intensifying the production of beef cattle has increased in recent years. Irrigation of pasture is one of these alternatives on the rise and this study aimed to determine the economic viability of finishing cattle by measuring the production costs and financial indicators. This study evaluated three production systems of cultivated pastures irrigated with center-pivot (S1, S2 and S3), located on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul. The animals were weighed on the entry and exit of the pastures in order to calculate productivity (PR) and total revenue (TR). Data were collected for measurement of production costs monthly. Fixed and variable costs were calculated, as well as the capital and land opportunity, operating and total cost (TC). The productivity was, respectively, 369, 772 and 637 kg/ha for systems S1, S2 and S3. System S2 had the highest TC (2101.59 R$/ha), while the lowest was obtained by S1 (1,626.93 R$/ha). Analyzing the average operating cost, the items that showed higher prices were the pasture implantation (486.35 R$/ha), electricity (308.70 R$/ha), pasture maintenance (200.04 R$/ha) and depreciation (154.69 R$/ha). As for margins, the systems S1, S2 and S3 values were, respectively, 33,46, 1.162,55 and 701,01 R$/ha for gross margin; -63,51, 955,40 and 541,05 R$/ha for operating margin; and -583,18, 291,61 and -28,99 R$/ha for net margin. The yield in this period was -0,47, 4,37 and 3,01%, and the profitability was -5,94, 39,92 and 27,38 for S1, S2 and S3 respectively. The production system that showed positive results in the financial evaluation indicates the economic viability of irrigation technology in finishing cattle on pasture.
