Previous issue date: 2014 / This thesis aims to make the life story of four university professors: Ciro Nogueira Filho, José Maria de Sales Andrade Neto, Luís Carlos Uchoa Saunders e Roberto Claudio Frota Bezerra. They devoted their lives to the Federal University of Ceara. Specifically search with temporal clipping the years 1960 to 2013, aims to (i) meet the individual phenomena, school, family history professional / academic and socio-political university teachers, in order to reconstruct the history of the Federal University of Ceará; delineate (ii) critical assessments about the role of the Federal University of Ceará Ceará in the educational context and sociopolitical. Qualitative research focused on Oral History of Life, is supported with theoretical contributions in the areas of Philosophy, History and Education, with which the concepts of memory, Critical Thinking, Oral Life History and Social History guard consistency. The methodological approach of the research was carried out sequentially from July 2012 to July 2013, and was held in three tenses and moods: bibliographic, documentary and field research, subsidized by the technique of semi-structured interviews in order to guide the autobiographical narrative. The results elucidated that the recovery of the history of life (family, school, professional / academic and socio-political) of teachers, subjects in this study, allowed the rescue of the history of the Federal University of Ceará to identify different aspects of higher education and provide information about the quality, equity, efficiency of teaching, research and extension, and internalization. The positioning of the researcher towards this scenario appears at the end of this thesis, in the form of critical assessments about their social role in the educational and socio-political Ceará. Memory / A presente tese objetiva compor a história de vida de quatro professores universitários – Ciro Nogueira Filho, José Maria de Sales Andrade Neto, Luís Carlos Uchoa Saunders e Roberto Cláudio Frota Bezerra, que destinaram suas vidas à academia, as quais se entrelaçam com a trajetória da Universidade Federal do Ceará. Especificamente a pesquisa, com recorte temporal dos anos de 1960 a 2013, pretende (i) conhecer os fenômenos individuais da história familiar, escolar, profissional/acadêmica e sociopolítica dos professores universitários, com vistas a recompor a história da Universidade Federal do Ceará; (ii) delinear apreciações críticas acerca do papel social da Universidade Federal do Ceará no contexto educacional e sociopolítico cearense. A pesquisa qualitativa, centrada na História Oral de Vida, está sustentada com as contribuições teóricas das áreas da Filosofia, História e Educação, com as quais os conceitos de Memória, Pensamento Crítico, História Oral de Vida e História Social guardam coerência. O procedimento metodológico da investigação decorreu de modo sequencial de julho de 2012 a julho de 2013, e se realizou em três tempos e modos: pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de campo, subsidiadas pela técnica da entrevista semiestruturada com a finalidade de orientar a narrativa autobiográfica. A análise das histórias de vida dos sujeitos permitiu classificar as falas em cinco categorias e seus respectivos núcleos de sentido: (i) Família; (ii) Escola; (iii) Professores; (iv) Alunos; e (v) Universidade. Os resultados indicaram que a recomposição da história de vida (familiar, escolar, profissional/acadêmica e sociopolítica) dos professores, sujeitos desta pesquisa, possibilitaram o resgate da história da Universidade Federal do Ceará ao identificar aspectos do ensino superior e fornecer informações sobre a qualidade, a equidade, a eficiência do ensino, pesquisa e extensão, e a interiorização. O posicionamento que se teve ante esse cenário aparece, ao final desta tese, na forma de apreciações críticas acerca do seu papel social no contexto educacional e sociopolítico cearense.
