Each commodity can be uniquely identified with an Electronic Product Code. A concept for commodity identification and recognition system in a Smart Refrigerator is proposed. Proposed system uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to identify commodities inside the fridge. Commodity identification system in a Smart Refrigerator is composed of these main components: user program with graphical interface, Radio Frequency Identification framework, Electronic Product Code information service, object name service, RFID reader and RFID tags. This work focuses on the concept of the commodity identification and recognition system in a Smart Refrigerator, explores the data flow, data storage and data manipulation inside the system. Possible system extensions and some issues relating to commodity identification system are described.
