El presente artículo tiene como objetivo principal mostrar, desde una perspectiva constitucional, el proceso de formación del régimen económico peruano y su actual orientación hacia una economía social de mercado, modelo que se sustenta en la doctrina social de la iglesia. Para tales efectos, se abordará el concepto de Constitución económica, los principios que rigen nuestro régimen económico y, en consecuencia, los valores que irradia de manera transversal nuestra Carta constitucional: dignidad y libertad, así como los derechos fundamentales que inspiran a nuestro actual sistema. The main aim of this paper is to show the development process of the Peruvian economic regime from a constitutional perspective, and its current orientation towards a social market economy, an archetype based on the Catholic Church social teaching. To do this, the author addresses the concept of economic constitution, the principles that rule our economic regime and the values present transversally in our Constitution: dignity and liberty, as well as the fundamental rights that inspire our system.
