Parte-se do pressuposto de que a biblioteca escolar (BE) é parte integral do processo educativo, sendo, ela, essencial a qualquer tipo de ação de longo prazo no tocante ao desenvolvimento competente da leitura e da escrita, ao acesso à informação e ao crescimento social, cultural e econômico de sujeitos em uma sociedade. É uma instituição que fomenta os trabalhos de sala de aula referentes à cultura letrada, à leitura literária, a todas as áreas do conhecimento científico, bem como as manifestações culturais. Nesse sentido, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal analisar o enfoque dado à biblioteca escolar no projeto político-pedagógico da escola (PPP) e sua contribuição para o trabalho de formação de leitores, para o acesso a objetos informacionais e bens culturais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental e estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa desenvolvida em uma escola pública da rede municipal de educação básica de Presidente Prudente, SP. As análises e teorias que subsidiaram a estrutura deste estudo são baseadas em teóricos que discutem a função da biblioteca escolar, a importância desta no projeto político-pedagógico, a leitura, a leitura da literatura, a história da biblioteca e da biblioteca escolar (BE), seu papel e o espaço como mediação. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research is linked to the research line "Formative processes, teaching and learning" of the Post-graduate Program in Education of FCT/Unesp, Presidente Prudente / SP campus. The assumption is that the school library (BE) is an integrated part of the educational process, and is essential to any long-term strategy with regard to the appropriate development of reading and writing, access to information and social, cultural and economy growth of subjects in a society. It's an institution that support classroom work on the literacy, and literary reading, as well as to other areas of knowledge and the cultural manifestation. In this sense, this research has as main objective to analyze the approach given to the school library in the politicalpedagogical project of the school (PPP) and its contribution to the work of training of readers, for the access to information objects and cultural goods.
