Kommer Halland att bli nya Atlantis? : Förebyggande åtgärder vid översvämningar och havsnivåhöjning

All municipalities in Halland are at risk of flooding caused by either rising sea level or extreme rainfall. Flooding causes damage to the physical environment and harmful health risks. Our aim is to analyze the possible effects of a rising sea level and floods as a result of extreme weather for Halland County. Furthermore, we will also identify and assess which actions the municiplatities are taken to prevent damages due to the rising of sea level or floods due to weather conditions. To obtain answers to our questions, a literature search was preformed. Interviews have been conducted with those responsible at the municipalities in Halland. Materials from municipalities and responsible authorities have also been studied. The results of the interviews shows a variation in the municipalities in the preventive work against flooding at the same time as there are some similarities. All municipalities are aware of the risks and have mapped which areas that are supposed to be affected. The conclusion of the present study was that more measures need to be taken, to make the municipalities more prepared. Suggested measures are the use of ecological edge zones, climate-proof buildings, underground tunnels that lead away water, green and blue areas, traditional revetment, revetment with plants, closable gates in rivers and beach nourishment.
