Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur skolkuratorer inom grundskolan arbetar med att upptäcka barn som blir utsatta för sexuella övergrepp. Vi ville även studera hur skolkuratorer inom grundskolan kan förbättra arbetet för att fånga upp barn som blir utsatta för sexuella övergrepp. Genom att intervjua sex skolkuratorer samlade vi in material som sedan analyserades med hjälp av systemteorin och stämplingsteorin med begreppet stigmatisering. Resultatet visade att skolkuratorerna tycker det är svårt att upptäcka barn som blir utsatta för sexuella övergrepp eftersom barnen upplevs vara osynliga. Resultatet visade även att skolkuratorerna upplever att de har svårt att hinna med det förebyggande arbetet. Avslutningsvis visade resultatet att för att kunna förbättra arbetet med att upptäcka och förebygga sexuella övergrepp mot barn, behöver skolkuratorerna mer kunskap om sexuella övergrepp mot barn, samt mer tid för att kunna skapa relationer till barnen och lyfta ämnet. / School counselors’ work with detecting children who are being sexual abused The aim of this study was to investigate how school counselors in elementary school are working to detect children that are exposed to sexual abuse and also how their work can be improved. By interviewing six school counselors we collected data that was analyzed with the systems theory and the stigmatization theory. The results showed that the school counselors are finding it difficult to discover children that are being sexual abused because the children are perceived to be invisible. The results also shows that school counselors experienced difficulties to find time for preventive work. In conclusion, the results shows that to be able to improve their work, the school counselors need more knowledge regarding sexual abuse against children and more time to be able to build relationships with the children and also to bring up the subject for discussion.
