Bakgrund: Livmoderhalscancer är den tredje vanligaste gynekologiska cancersjukdomen som drabbar kvinnor i Sverige och årligen rapporteras 500 000 nya fall världen över. En cancerdiagnos och efterföljande behandling påverkar samtliga aspekter av livet. Psykiskt lidande och fysiska biverkningar av sjukdomen och dess behandling är vanligt förekommande och kvinnan som drabbas har behov av understödjande vård genom hela processen. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva kvinnors erfarenheter av att leva med livmoderhalscancer. Metod: En litteraturöversikt med induktiv ansats gjordes vilken baserades på åtta artiklar med kvalitativ metod. Resultat: Som ett resultat av analysen framkom fyra huvudteman: Att vara i ett känslomässigt kaos, Att ge och få stöd, Att leva i en förändrad kropp och Att ge mening åt sjukdomen och framtiden Slutsats: Att drabbas av livmoderhalscancer är en livsomvälvande upplevelse och den drabbade personen är i stort behov av information och stöd av sjuksköterskan. Erfarenheterna till följd av sjukdomen fick kvinnorna att reflektera kring sin kroppsuppfattning, kvinnlighet och fertilitet. Livmoderhalscancer diagnosen påverkade inte bara kvinnorna som individer utan även partnerrelationerna, synen på meningen med livet och framtiden. / Background: Cervical cancer is the third most common gynecological cancer disease that afflicts women in Sweden and 500 000 new cases is yearly reported worldwide. A cancer diagnosis and following treatment affects all aspects of life. Psychological distress and physical side effects of the disease and its treatment are common and the afflicted woman has a supportive care need through the entire process. Purpose: To describe women’s experiences of living with cervical cancer. Method: A literature review with an inductive approach was done, based on eight articles with a qualitative method. Result: As a result of the analysis four main themes appeared: To be in an emotional chaos, To give and receive support, To live in a changed body and To give meaning to the disease and the future. Conclusion: To be afflicted by cervical cancer is a life- changing experience and the person afflicted is in need for information and support from the nurse. The experiences, as a result of the disease, made the women reflect about their body image, womanhood and fertility. The cervical cancer diagnosis did not only affect the women as individuals but also their partner relations, their view of life and the future.
