Följande arbete syftar till att utveckla och avgränsa en metod för analys av diktsamlingen som enhetligt verk. Med utgångspunkt i tidigare forskning på området samt tankar från den läsarorienterade teoribildningen söker jag formulera ett antal principer för hur diktsamlingens helhetskaraktär kan tolkas och beskrivas. Detta görs med en diskussion dels kring de formella och innehållsliga aspekter av samlingen som bidrar till dess helhetsintryck och dels kring hur den resulterande helheten konceptualiseras av läsaren. De principer som formuleras i dessa avsnitt appliceras därefter i en omfattande analys av Birger Sjöbergs diktsamling Kriser och kransar (1926). Där förevisas hur en helhetssträvan påverkar läsarens praktiska analys- och tolkningsarbete, samt hur det kan användas för att öppna upp nya perspektiv både på samlingen som helhet, och dess individuella dikter. / The following investigation aims at developing and defining a method for analysis of the poetry collection as a unified work. Working from previous scholarship in this area along with concepts derived from reader-response theory I will attempt to formulate a set of principles for how the unity of the poetry collection can be interpreted and described. This is done both with regard to the formal and thematic aspects of the collection which contribute to a sense of unity, and in relation to how the resulting whole is conceptualized by the reader. The principles which have been formulated in this section are then applied to an extensive analysis of Birger Sjöberg’s poetry collection Kriser och kransar (1926). Through this text I show how an orientation towards the whole affects the reader’s analytic and interpretive practice, as well as how it can be used to open up new perspectives on the collection as a whole, as well as its individual poems.
