Alla blir äldre, även du : En studie om biståndshandläggares upplevelser av äldres diskriminering utifrån ett ålderismteoretiskt perspektiv / Everyone Gets Older, Even You : A study on aid administrator's experiences of discrimination against older people from a theoretical perspective on ageism

Aid administrators meet many elderlies in their professional role. The aim was with an from a theoretical perspective on ageism study aid administrator's experiences of discrimination against older people. In this study, the question was asked how they feel about discrimination of older people in society and what they think can strengthen the position for elderly as a group. In this study five aid administrators were interviewed about their experiences of elderly people’s discrimination. The results were analyzed using an ageism perspective with a qualitative content analysis. The result shows that aid administrators see ageism in society by meeting with older people and through social perception. They stated that discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes in society that cause problems for older people like, exclusion, poor treatment and a contributor to a negative self-image. Older becomes less represented than other groups, overrides and availability in society is not adapted to their needs and abilities. Aid administrators argue that the perception of the elderly is an area for improvement. To succeed aid administrators, see the need for knowledge about ageism and that society listens to what older people want and need. It is society's duty to combat discrimination and protect human equivalence.
