Utgångspunkten för examensarbetet var att med ett arkitektoniskt förslag kommentera urbaniseringens effekter för små orter på landsbygden. Första fasen i projektet bestod av en bred analys av orten Arvidsjaur. Den andra fasen bestod i att forma förslaget. Förslaget blev en innovation baserad på en sammansmältning av följande kvaliteter i Arvidsjaur: - Försvarsmaktens vinterenhet och fjälljägare - Biltestningsindustrin - Ökande naturturism - Bra serviceutbud - Exotisk natur och klimat - God infrastruktur På grund av att fler människor numer bor i storstäder har intresset för turistresor till den orörda naturen ökat. Den starkast växande gruppen är personer som både vill ut i naturen och samtidigt ha närhet till god service och bekvämlighet. De söker också oftast aktivitetsbaserade, uppstyrda och fartfyllda upplevelser (satisfaction guaranteed). I Arvidsjaur finns det gott om exotisk natur, bred kompetens som kan ge en aktiv upplevelse av naturen, bra kommunikationer och brett serviceutbud. Vårt förslag blev ett upplevelsecenter för fysiska aktiviteter och tester i subarktiskt klimat, North Base. Anläggningen består av en byggnad med ett kallt inomhusvinterlandskap samt ett omgivande landskap med bilbanor på mark och is. I byggnaden finns ett hotell och en restaurang. I inomhusvinterlandskapet ska man bland annat kunna klättra glaciärvägg, bada isvak och lavinträna. / The starting point for our thesis project was to comment urbanization´s effect on rural villages by an architectural proposal. The project's first faze was an extensive analysis of the village Arvidsjaur. The second faze was the development of the proposal. The result became an innovation based on a fusion between the following qualities of Arvidsjaur: - The army's winter unit and special forces - Car testing industry - Growing nature tourism - Good service - Exotic nature and climate - Good infrastructure As a result of urbanisation nature tourism has increased significantly. The fastest growing group are those who want to visit nature but still have access to service and comfort. These people also seek activity based experiences. Arvidsjaur has an abundance of exotic nature, they have competence that can provide lively nature experiences and good communications and service. Our proposal is an experience centre for physical activities and tests in subarctic climate. The facility consists of a building with an indoor-winter-landscape, hotel and restaurant. And an outdoor landscape of racetracks on ground and ice. A visitor at “North Base” can climb a glacier wall, swim in ice cold water and train avalanche rescue among many other things.
