[pt] O objetivo desta dissertação é estimar um modelo para
prever a demanda de passagens rodoviárias em ligações
interestaduais no Brasil. Para perseguir este
objetivo serão utilizados modelos de regressão linear
múltipla e redes neurais. Os modelos de regressão foram
testados em relação a sua forma funcional e
investigados para a presença de observações aberrantes e
influentes. Os resultados evidenciaram que as não-
linearidades modeladas pela rede neural não resultam em
melhor poder preditivo em relação ao modelo de regressão e,
que este apresenta um razoável poder de previsão embora
haja possibilidade de super dimensionamento da demanda. / [en] The objective of this dissertation is to estimate a model
to forecast the demand of intra state passenger transport
tickets in Brazil. To reach this objective, a multiple
regression analysis model and artificial neural networks
will be used. Regression models were tested in their
functional behavior and investigated for the presence of
outliers and influent observations. Our results showed that
the non linearity modelled by the neural networks did not
result in a better forecast when compared to the regression
model. Our final regression model has a reasonable
forecasting power, although there is possibility of
overestimating the demand.
