O gênero Anacardium L. é composto por um número relativamente pequeno de espécies arbóreas e arbustivas, dentre elas Anacardium occidentale L., única espécie cultivada e distribuída em todo o mundo tropical. O Brasil é o provável centro de origem, com dois centros de diversidade identificados. Neste trabalho, duas regiões gênicas comumente empregadas (ITS1 e trnL) foram utilizadas para avaliar a diversidade intra e interespecífica do gênero. Há evidências de variação intraespecífica principalmente para a região ITS1, que dificulta as reconstruções filogenéticas, uma vez que relativamente pouca variação interespecífica foi detectada para as espécies avaliadas. Para a região trnL, há uma evidência de que essas regiões podem identificar diferenças entre os centros de diversidade do gênero. Os agrupamentos observados nas árvores sugerem o mesmo tipo de agrupamento já descrito na literatura por taxonomia numérica. No entanto, mais dados devem ser avaliados para testar essa evidência. / The genus Anacardium L. is composed by a relatively small number of species, being A. occidentale the only species that is cultivated and distributed in all tropical regions. Brasil is probably the center of origin, with two different diversity centers. Here, two genic regions commonly used (ITS1 e trnL) were employed to evaluate the diversity present between and within species of the genus. The results showed evidences of the existence of intraspecific variation, mainly for the ITS1 region, which can difficult the phylogenetic reconstructions, since small variation was observed among the analysed species. The trnL region showed an evidence that this region could be used to discriminate the two diversity centers. The groups obtained suggest the same groups observed in the literature by numerical taxonomy. However more data is necessary to test those evidences.
