Death, dying, and grieving: Providing a ministry of caring

White, R. L., Jr. 01 January 1996 (has links)
This project dissertation, entitled Death, Dying, and Grieving: Providing a Ministry of Caring, approaches the issue of establishing a ministry of caring for parishioners who are experiencing grief. Also included in this work is how the disciplines of sociology, anthropology, archaeology and psychology have attempted to address the issue of death and grief. A biblical history of death, dying, and grief is discussed and a theological framework for grieving. The dissertation gives a description of the development of a counseling group, support group and all of the intricacies involved in the institution of a ministry of caring for the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Aplicación de microondas en el tratamiento de emulsiones del tipo agua en aceite (w/o) y aceite en agua (o/w)

Pérez Páez, Rocío 02 April 2009 (has links)
Pérez Páez, R. Welding C-Mn steels using the pulsed current MIG welding process

Foote, W. J. 03 1900 (has links)
The welding of C-Mn steels using the pulsed current MIG welding process was investigated. Following initial work on the basic fusion characteristics, the process was applied to the production of closed butt joint linepipe welding and narrow gap welding (in the flat and H-V positions). The initial stage of the work covered the determination of pulse parameters for controlled metal transfer with a variety of wires and shielding gases. Basic bead-on-plate fusion characteristics were investigated 1n all welding positions and quantified in terms of the major welding variables of current and travel speed. Welding position was shown to have no effect on fusion behaviour. Successful full penetration closed butt root welds were produced in all welding positions. Heat input was shown to be the factor controlling bead dimensions. Close control over welding parameters are needed to maintain consistent bead sizes. Complete joint simulations were also made. The vertical-up technique was shown to give superior fusion characteristics with the process producing excellent quality results in all positions. Narrow gap MIG welding was shown to be feasible without wire manipulation at gap widths below 12 mm in the flat position. A wire manipulation technique gave excellent fusion characteristics with gap widths greater than 12 mm. A computer program was devised as a guide to the selection of process parameters and possible fusion behaviour. Modelling considerations showed that H-V position narrow gap welding would be feasible only with gap widths less than 10 ... A short experimental programme validated the predictions of fusion behaviour by the model and indicated the direction for future development work.

Cue-Sampling Strategies and the Role of Verbal Hypotheses in Concept Identification

Hislop, Mervyn W. 03 1900 (has links)

The role of verbal hypotheses in concept identification was explored by manipulating three variables affecting the relation between verbalized rules and classification performance. (i) Verbalizing rules before and after classification changed subjects' cue-sampling strategies and the control of verbal hypotheses over sorting performance. (ii) The difficulty of stimulus description affected how subjects utilized verbal hypotheses, and whether verbalized rules completely specified the cues used for classification. (iii) The number of irrelevant attributes changed the relative efficiency of stimulus-learning over rule-learning for concept identification.

These investigations demonstrate effective techniques for varying and evaluating the importance of verbal rules for classification; and suggest that subjects' prior verbal habits markedly affect the degree of reliance placed on verbal hypotheses in concept attainment.
/ Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Verbal Control and the Descriptive Completeness of Rules in Concept-Identification Tasks

Hislop, Mervyn W. 10 1900 (has links)

When Ss on a card-sorting task were required to make a rapid sorting response prior to stating their rule on each trial, actual frequencies of correct classification were found to be significantly higher than the frequencies predicted from the Ss' trial-by-trial rules. These disparities were observed even though virtually every placement was consistent with the rule given on the same trial. No disparities were found when Ss stated their rule prior to placing each card.

The observed disparities indicate that the stated rules were insufficient to describe all of the stimulus cues used in determining the placements made. They also suggest that verbal rules do not necessarily control above-chance sorting performance unless the experimental conditions encourage verbal control over responding.
/ Master of Arts (MA)

Constructive Features of Selected Works of Giovanni Gabrieli and Igor Stravinsky, a Lecture Recital, Together with Four Recitals of Selected Works of J. Ott, W. Lovelock, E. Bloch, J. Davison, D. White, R. Boutry, L. Gröndahl, V. Persichetti, H. Stevens, R. Kelly, and R. Monaco

Brown, Frank N. (Frank Neil) 12 1900 (has links)
The lecture recital was given on August 8, 1978. The discussion of constructive features in Gabrielli's In ecclesiis (1615) and Canzon VIII à 8 (1615) and Stravinsky's In Memoriam Dylan Thomas established that the architecture of St. Mark's Cathedral and the selected works by the composers bear a simple number relation.
