The Overall Job Satisfaction And The Curriculum Satisfaction Of The Teachers At The Second Cycle Of Public Elementary SchoolsTuzemen, Eda 01 August 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to assess the overall job satisfaction and the
curriculum satisfaction of the teachers teaching Mathematics, Turkish, Social
Studies, Natural Sciences, and Foreign Language at 6-8 grades of public elementary
schools. A questionnaire developed by the researcher was used as the data collection
instrument of this study. All the teachers working at the 6-8 grades of the public
elementary schools in Turkey and teaching Mathematics, Turkish, Social Studies,
Natural Sciences, and Foreign Language constituted the population of the study. The
total number of the teachers who constituted the sample was 720. The data gathered
was analyzed by SPSS program / descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, and
one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the teachers were satisfied in terms of
overall job satisfaction, however, quite undecided in terms of curriculum satisfaction.
According to the results of the study, there was a significant difference between the
teachers&rsquo / overall job satisfaction in terms of age, marital status, educational
background, work experience, lesson load, and motive for choosing teaching
profession, but no difference in terms of their gender, number of courses taught, and
teaching subject. The results also showed that there was a significant difference
between the teachers&rsquo / curriculum satisfaction in terms of teaching subject. When the
teachers&rsquo / choice for a new career was considered, there was a significant difference between the teachers&rsquo / overall job satisfaction and between their curriculum
satisfaction.

Motives That Attract Parents To Send Their Children To Curriculum Laboratory Schools And StudentsTaskin Celik, Nehir 01 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of this study was to identify the reasons of parents&rsquo / preferring Curriculum Laboratory Schools (CLSs) for their children&rsquo / s education and to investigate whether the students attending Curriculum Laboratory Schools are satisfied with the physical, instructional and social opportunities (services) offered at these schools. The sample of the study consisted of 440 seventh grade students and 14 parents from seven curriculum laboratory schools in the province of Ankara. Two instruments were used for data collection / interview questions for parents and a questionnaire for students. To analyze quantitative data, descriptive statistics such as frequency analyses and percentages were conducted. The open-ended questions in the parents&rsquo / interview were analyzed through content analysis. The results indicated that parents preferred these schools for several reasons including convenient location, technological opportunities, physical conditions and instructional opportunities. However, the availability of the opportunities was not as defined in the CLS model. Nevertheless, the students who were attending CLSs were moderately to highly satisfied with the services provided in the CLSs.

Macroeconomic Impact Of WorkersYasar, Pinar 01 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)
In this study, a demand oriented simultaneous equation macroeconometric model with a dynamic perspective is constructed in order to investigate the impact of workers&rsquo / remittances on output growth via their effects on key macro variables such as private consumption, investment and imports for Turkey. The study covers the period of 1964-2003 on an annual basis. Results of the analysis suggest that workers&rsquo / remittances affect output growth in a positive manner through the multiplier process. It is found that the highest induced growth rate by remittances to output growth belongs to the early 1970s especially the year of 1973, which corresponds to the date of first oil shock and also the end of labour migration to Europe. Thus, it is concluded that although workers&rsquo / remittances have been mostly used for consumption and imports as mentioned in most of the studies both for Turkey and other countries, remittances contributed to economic growth of Turkey positively through the multiplier process especially in the early 1970s.

Non-darcian Flow In A Fractured AquiferAltinors, Adnan Altay 01 August 2005 (has links) (PDF)
Non-Darcian flow in a finite fractured aquifer is studied in this thesis. A stream bounds the aquifer at one side and an impervious stratum at the other. The aquifer consists of fractures capable of transmitting water rapidly and porous blocks which mainly store water. Unsteady flow in the aquifer due to a sudden or a gradual rise in the stream level is analysed by the double-porosity conceptual model. Governing equations for the flow in fractures and blocks are developed using the continuity equation. The fluid velocity in fractures is often too high for the linear Darcian flow so that the governing equation for fracture flow is modified by Forcheimer&rsquo / s equation which incorporates a nonlinear term. Governing equations are coupled by an interaction term that controls the quasi-steady state fracture-block interflow. Governing equations are solved numerically by the Crank-Nicolson implicit scheme. The numerical results are compared to the analytical results for the same problem which assumes Darcian flow both in fractures and blocks. Numerical and analytical solutions give same results when Reynold&rsquo / s number is less than 0.1. The effect of non-linearity on the flow appears when Reynold&rsquo / s number is greater than 0.1. The larger the piezometric head gradient, the higher the flow rate and, thus, higher the non-linearity is. The effect of aquifer parameters on the flow is also investigated. The proposed model and its numerical solution is a unique application of non-linear flow models to the fractured aquifers. It can be used in predicting water levels in fractured aquifers and evaluating time dependent flow rates in the analysis of recession hydrographs.

The Lgbtt And WomenKurbanoglu, Elcin 01 June 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis investigates two social movements in Turkey, the women&rsquo / s and LGBTT movements comparatively and in the light of available NSM theories. While brief histories of both movements are presented and all active LGBTT associations and groups in Turkey are introduced in the thesis, the main focus of the study is the LGBTT movement. Based on in depth interviews with 17 LGBTT activists, the evolution of this movement is traced and its current profile as well as its
relationship to different branches of the women&rsquo / s movement are analysed in detail.
The activities of the two movements during the legislative reforms in the 2000s are
also examined. While findings of the thesis point to differences between the
LGBTT and women&rsquo / s movements in Turkey, the interface of both movements with
the state constitute a critical explanatory factor of their trajectories. The thesis also
argues that the extent to which NSM theories can be used to explain these
movements in the Turkish context is limited.

The Performance Evaluation And Persistence Of A Type Mutual Funds In TurkeyYalcin, Ozge 01 June 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Literature reveals studies on mutual fund performance analysis and persistency, with various results. Some studies support hort term performance persistence, while the rest claiming no such persistency among the portfolios. This thesis is an attempt to analyze the performances of Turkish open-end mutual funds for the period of 2003-2010 and search for persistency by extending the time period to June 2011.
For performance evaluation, single factor CAPM and ama-French&rsquo / s Three Factor Model are applied. Persistency analysis is done by tracking the relative fund performances on a monthly basis.
The results of this study indicate that for the sample period, Turkish A Type mutual funds neither overperform nor underperform the overall market. Nearly all Jensen&rsquo / s alphas are found to be zero, statistically significant. This is also an implication that the mutual funds are earning their expected returns in an efficient mutual fund market in Turkey.
The Fama-French&rsquo / s three factor model shows slightly better performance, on the other hand. The size and book to market equity factors are not found significant in general, however they are found jointly significant in all regressions.
Persistency is analyzed by tracking the mutual fund erformances on monthly basis. When some mutual funds showed negative or positive performance persistency during the period individually, but the overall picture demonstrates a balanced distribution of performance groups. The number Loser-Loser
performances is slightly more than the other three groups, resulting in a tendency for short term negative persistency for the sample analyzed between the period of January 2003 to June 2011.
