Etude d'un magnéto-électromètre marin : conception, dimensionnement optimisé et réalisation d'un prototype / Study of a marine magneto-electrometer : design, optimized sizing and prototype realization

Baicry, Mathieu 12 November 2015 (has links)
The measurement of electric and magnetic fields at sea is of great interest for many applications (geophysics, oil prospection, vessels detection, etc.) In all cases, measurements at very low frequency with a very low noise are required. Most marine electrometers measure the potential difference between two separated electrodes. Their noise level is very good but increases when frequency decreases, due to amplification electronics. Another type of electrometers is based on a low impedance current measurement system. We designed a current based electrometer, which is as well able to simultaneously measure the magnetic field, trying to solve the problems of former devices.First, we describe the medium in which the sensor will be used, the applications for which it is intended, and the state of the art of existing sensors and their defects. We then describe in detail the behavior of the sensor. In particular, we determine by simulation and experimentally the different transfer functions of the sensor, depending on its geometrical characteristics and its environment. After presenting several potential architectures of electrometers meeting the targets, we use the results obtained in the previous chapter to scale an electrometer, whose equivalent conductivity is not necessarily equal to that of seawater. This additional degree of freedom in comparison with the design constraints of the former current measurement electrometers enables us to improve the performance of the sensor. Finally we propose two calibration methods of the electrometer, without prior knowledge of its environment. Finally we characterize the different elements of a laboratory prototype, and we present the results of the tests of the complete prototype.

Avaliação de aminoácidos como inibidores de corrosão para cobre em meio de água do mar artificial / Evaluation of amino acids as corrosion inhibitors for copper in solution artificial sea water

Jeremias de Freitas Costa 28 February 2013 (has links)
Esse resultado pode estar relacionado à faixa de pH das soluções testadas e à solubilidade dos complexos de cobre formados com os aminoácidos, mostrando que uma faixa ótima de pH também deve ser assegurada para aprimorar a ação destes aminoácidos como inibidores de corrosão / Corrosion inhibitors are substances that, when added to an aggressive medium reduce or prevent the oxidation reaction of a metal with such medium and / or the reduction reactions of specimens present in the medium. For inhibiting the corrosion of copper and copper alloys in acidic or neutral media, the most widely used inhibitor is benzotriazole (BTAH), which forms complexes with the Cu (I) and Cu (II) ions on the metal surface, decreasing the corrosive process. The concern for environmental preservation and the toxicity of corrosion inhibitors have been discussed in the literature. Several studies havebeen intensified using amino acids as a proposal to replace the BTAH, which is considered toxic. Among the amino acids studied, two presented sulfur in their molecules (cysteine and methionine) and another without heteroatom in the side chair (glycine). The concentrations ranged from 10-2 to 10-4mol/L and the pH of the solution variedbetween 7,2 and 8,4. Gravimetric measurements (total immersion tests) and electrochemical techniques, such as potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, were performed. The morphological characterization of the substrate surface after the immersion tests (743 hours) was made by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-rays spectroscopy energy dispersive (EDS or EDX) and X-rays diffraction (XRD ).This effect was probably due to the increased concentration of molecules adsorbed on the metal surface. Although the results with amino acids were always lower than those obtained in the presence of BTAH, similar behaviorsas a function of the amino acid concentration could be observed for the Nyquist diagrams. However, except for the results observed for the cysteine medium containing 10-2mol/L, all the inhibition efficiencies of the media containing amino acids, obtained by total immersion tests, were negative, showing that exposure time may also be relevant to the performance of these inhibitors. Among all amino acids tested, the medium containing glycine showed the worst corrosion performance, accelerating the process of anodic dissolution of copper. This result may be related to the pH range of tested solutions and to the solubility of the copper complexes formed with amino acids, showing that an optimal range of pH must also be provided to enhance the action of these amino acids as corrosion inhibitors

Abdou, Melina 24 May 2018 (has links)
Platinum (Pt) is a Technology-Critical Element (TCE) and an emerging contaminant increasingly released into all Earth compartments, but its environmental occurrence, distribution, and dynamics are under- documented. The present research combines laboratory observations and field monitoring studies on Pt biogeochemistry in coastal systems (Atlantic Ocean and northwestern Mediterranean Sea), including its distribution between seawater, particles, and living organisms. Exposure experiments with oysters facing a wide range of exposure levels provide the first Pt accumulation kinetics in marine bivalves, supporting uptake of Pt from seawater in line with field observations. At environmentally-relevant Pt levels (50 and 100 ng.L-1), the positive linear relation between exposure and Pt accumulation in tissues justifies the use of oysters as integrative sentinels for seawater Pt contamination. At relatively high Pt levels (10,000 ng.L-1), deleterious physiological effects (e.g. increased oxidative stress and energetic stock mobilization) occurred in oysters. Field observations at contrasting sites have provided regional background Pt concentrations in seawater in the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts (0.05 ng.L-1 and 0.08 ng.L-1, respectively) and bioconcentration factors for phytoplankton (~ 104), and bivalves (oysters and mussels ~ 103). Spatial distribution of Pt levels in seawater, plankton and bivalves suggest higher contamination along the northwestern Mediterranean coast, especially in semi-enclosed, industrialized/urbanized systems (Toulon Bay and Genoa Harbor). Historical records in sediments (~ 1900 - 2010) and bivalves (1980 to present) from the Gironde watershed and the Toulon Bay showed past Pt contamination due to industrial (metallurgic, oil-refining, coal) activities, whereas the strong recent increase in Pt contamination originates from emerging Pt sources, e.g. car catalytic converters, hospital effluents, and sewage. High temporal resolution observation of Pt partitioning, together with environmental master variables (O2, Salinity, Chl-a, nutrients etc.), suggests that in coastal systems, biogeochemical processes including phytoplankton production and degradation may play an important role in Pt behavior and fate.
