Die intra- en interpersoonlike ontwikkeling en opleiding van die Christelike dienswerker : 'n prakties-teologiese studie / Alida Jemima (Mimie) van der Merwe

Van der Merwe, Alida Jemima January 2005 (has links)
The aim of this study is to indicate the necessity for training Christian workers and to formulate suitable criteria for undergraduate study. The central theoretical argument is that criteria regarding the effective training of Christian workers are lacking and should therefore be formulated. An increasing demand for healthy reformed-theological and ministry oriented undergraduate training of Christian workers, calls for an interesting and new challenge for the departments of Practical Theology at Theological Faculties in South Africa and worldwide. The first aim of this study was to determine which possible Scriptural perspectives exist on the intra- and interpersonal development of the believer. The basis-theoretical perspective showed a distinct relationship and interdependency between the development of emotive and spiritual skills. Both form an integral part of the believer's process of growth towards spiritual maturity and maturity of faith. The second aim was to examine the contributions of other relevant disciplines. Regarding the metatheoretical perspective, emotive training is considered increasingly important. Disciplines such as Sociology. Psychology, Psycho Neurology and Social Work contributes interesting perspectives on the intra- and interpersonal development of the individual. This knowledge has to be taken into account when a scientifically answerable training course for Christian workers is to be developed. Empirical research clearly showed the need for ministry oriented undergraduate training of Christian workers, which should include the development of intra- and interpersonal skills. The third goal was reached by integrating the basis- and meta-theoretical perspectives, and by laying down guidelines for this new field of practice. The researcher evaluated relevant study material of the above-mentioned disciplines and integrated the information into criteria for a new theo-psychosocial study course for undergraduate training of Christian workers. / Thesis (M.A. (Pastoral))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006

[pt] A AUTORIDADE DOS QUE SERVEM: O CAMINHO DO SERVIÇO COMO PROPOSTA DE SEGUIMENTO PARA A LIDERANÇA ECLESIÁSTICA CONTEMPORÂNEA / [en] THE AUTHORITY OF THOSE WHO SERVE: THE PATH OF SERVICE AS A FOLLOW-UP PROPOSAL FOR CONTEMPORARY ECCLESIASTICAL LEADERSHIP

PEDRO HENRIQUE TEIXEIRA PIRES VEIGA 18 April 2022 (has links)
[en] The dissertation intends to work on a possible path for the exercise of a genuinely Christian authority by the ecclesiastical leaders, facing the challenging scenario where they find themselves in contemporary times. For this, initially the conceptualization of the expression leadership is made, in order to situate the terms of the research, approaching it next to the theological context in the definition of ecclesiastical leadership and the role of the religious leader. Then, a reading of the contemporary scenario is developed from the concepts of epochal change, postmodernity and liquid-modernity, all with emphasis on the impacts that their peculiar characteristics generate for the Christian leader. Finally, there is an urgent need for a proposal for a genuine way forward in this context. This is built from two ideas that mainly govern this work of the authority of those who suffer, the concept worked by the Austrian theologian Martha Zechmeister, in which it is presented to the proposal of an authority in opposition to the concept of imposing power; and the biblical concept of leadership, expressed in the work of Jesus as a paradigm of community leadership that generates individual transformation and, episode of washing feet reported in John chapter 13. They are found as leaderships and exercises that serve, as a perspective in time, is that the search author resumes a Christian path to be followed for the exercise of a difficulty in which nascent and contextualized presents a search for leadership of a difficulty in which nascent and contextualized.

The Impact of Catholic High School Education: Catholic High School Young Adult Alumnae Perception and Engagement in Social Justice Related Activities

Gaspar, Antony John Joseph 01 July 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This mixed methods research investigated how young adult alumnae from a Catholic female high school perceive the impact of their high school service experience concerning their "beliefs" about the importance of service, current "engagement" in service, and their beliefs about and engagement with four Catholic Social Teaching principles (life and dignity, care for the poor, solidarity and common good, and rights and responsibilities) related to social justice. This research draws data from young adult alumnae from a Catholic female single-sex high school in a metropolitan city of the United States. The data collection included a web-based survey (N=131), individual interview (n=9), and school documents review. Catholic theology of the human person, and Catholic social teaching principles served as the conceptual framework for data analysis. The quantitative data revealed that Catholic high school service program experience positively impacts participants' "beliefs" about the importance of service (65%), and the importance of four Catholic social teaching principles (73%). The qualitative data corroborates with the quantitative findings. However, participants lacked translating their beliefs in to action with only 42% reporting as "engaged" in service. Although a majority of participants (60%) reported as engaged in activities related to four CST principles, in reality only 25% are significantly engaged in service in the past 12 months. Catholic educators are invited to examine their service pedagogy and address factors that contribute to low level of service engagement. Further research is suggested to identify factors that would raise the level of service engagement in alumnae’s young adult life.

Proměny diakonie v Českobratrské církvi evangelické v teologické reflexi / Transformations of Diakonia in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren

ŠIMR, Karel January 2018 (has links)
The thesis aims to contribute to the theoretical grounding of diakonia as the Christian-oriented practice of helping in modern society. Methodologically the author works with the social systems theory developed by Niklas Luhmann, which enables a differentiated description of the multidimensional reality of Christian helping action in its historical development and present situation. In the first part, the topic is theologically grounded ? biblically, historically and dogmatically. Then the main features of social systems theory are presented. Emphasis is placed on the dual ? primary (functional) and secondary (social) ? differentiation in society and its consequences for understanding diakonia. In this context diakonia is observed as the structural coupling of the systems of social help and Christianity and subsequently defined as helping in gospel perspective, which can be observed at micro-, meso- and macro-levels, i.e., in the context of interaction, organization and society ? and at the same time different theories must be developed for Christian helping at the individual levels. In the second part, the sociological description of the differentiation of diakonia is first confronted with theologically-oriented descriptions of differentiation in the context of Christianity and, following especially Wichern?s division of diakonia into civic, free and ecclesial, attention is focused on the ?tripod of diakonia? in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in the form of Diaconia of ECCB, Christian service and diaconate. This multi-focus view of diakonia makes it possible to reflect on its mutually irreducible layers and search for adequate theories for each of them. In the formation of the Christian dimension of the organization emphasis is placed on cultivating an adequate organization culture. Interaction has to do with the mutual ?neighborly? help within a community. The specific function of diaconate is identified in constructing bridges between the ecclesial level of Christianity and its connection with the system of social help, as well as other partial systems in society ? and in this sense it is perceived as again highly relevant. In the concluding chapter, the communication-based approach of social systems theory is correlated with the practical-theological paradigm of gospel communication. In this context diakonia is understood as an inseparable part of ?gospel communication?.
