[en] THE COMPLEMENTARITY BETWEEN PEÕES AND ENTREATOS: AN ANALISYS OF THE MOVIES AS IF THEY WERE ONE / [pt] A COMPLEMENTARIDADE ENTRE PEÕES E ENTREATOS: UMA ANÁLISE DOS FILMES COMO SE ELES FOSSEM UM

CARLA SILVEIRA DO NASCIMENTO 03 January 2018 (has links)
[en] In this thesis, the documentaries Peões and Entreatos, released in 2004 and directed by Eduardo Coutinho and João Moreira Salles, respectfully, are the backdrop for a discussion about the complementarity between these two works. After all, with predominantly different ways of representation - interactive mode and observational mode- , the films articulate related to a main connection, Lula, who was a presidential candidate at the time. The films were shot simultaneously, as part of a same project from Videofilmes, fulfilling an old wishthat the directors would work together, but respecting their personal characteristics. Thus, having such different perspectives, how can they be so closely related? To answer this question, the main theorists of cinema will be considered, considering the characteristics of one another and how to identify if the films can be translated into one.

Spatial and temporal integration of light and water compétition in a walnut-wheat agroforestry system, a key for understanding productivity?

Talbot, Grégoire 26 October 2011 (has links)
Measurements on experimental silvoarable agroforestry plots (mixed tree-crop) showed exceptionally high productivity, with yields more than 30% higher compared to the separate crop and tree systems. We developed a 3-D process-based model (Hi-sAFe) and used it to (1) test if the spatiotemporal integration of resources sharing (light, water, nitrogen) between species could explain this productivity and (2) assess how agroforestry design or management may affect this productivity. We developed a novel method for the analysis of simulated data to identify and sort the processes determining yield by order of importance. The model was parameterized and calibrated on a hybrid walnut / durum wheat located on the Restinclières field (Hérault, France). After a detailed analysis of the functioning of this system, we explored by virtual experiments its response to design choices: (1) phenological traits of associated species, and (2) density and location of trees on the plot. The comprehensiveness of the Hi-sAFe model provides a new insight into the functioning of agroforestry systems. It clarifies the complexity of the real system. Our results put forward a deterministic interpretation of the performance of each species and of the total productivity of the crop-tree association (Land Equivalent Ratio). The analysis of virtual experiments offers practical ways for optimizing agroforestry systems.

Trade mark strategies and innovative activities / Stratégies de marques et activités innovantes

Millot, Valentine 31 October 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims at explaining the link between trade mark use and innovative activities. The first chapter describes the main legal aspects of trade marks and reviews existing literature in economics and management relating to them. The second chapter analyses how and why firms use trade marks and how they integrate them in their innovative activities. Through a theoretical and empirical approach, we show that trade marks are used in relation to innovations which are at the interface of the market, mainly product and marketing innovations. The third chapter then studies the interrelated effect of trade marks and patents in the protection of innovation. We show that depending on market characteristics, they may complement or substitute each other. In the fourth and final chapter, we explore the patterns of trade mark use by academic institutions, and investigate how these relate to their research activities.

Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia - FAPEB / Different strategies of resource exploitation can lead to divergences in species niche realized. Niche differentiation may involve several niche dimensions, which can differ, especially in the diet, in space, and time. In this study, we measured the redundancy level or complementarity in the interaction network in a bee community associated with an agricultural system. The hypothesis is that the degree of trophic overlap on the diet axis in the community is low, with high complementarity, since there is difference in the resource supply over the vintages and, that the overlap on time axis is high with high redundancy at the time of the use of floral resources. The overlap niche on diet axis was low (NOih = 0.18) and 88% of pairs showed overlap values below 30%. Niche overlap on time axis was intermediate (NOih = 0.49), and 65% of pairs showed overlap values between 30 and 60%. The network analysis showed that the bees separate its niche on diet axis and presented additional intermediate specialization (H2 '= 0.46). And on the time axis (H2 '= 0.12) bees were considered generalists, with high temporal redundancy. When we tested whether environmental requirements determined the high redundancy at the time of use of floral resources, we verified that the temperature was not a guiding factor to structure the niche overlap in relation to the time of use. The results indicate that the low niche overlap on the diet axis and the intermediate overlap on the time axis should be reflecting the plurality of floral resources choices by different bee species, which used broad resource spectrum.

The International Criminal Court and the principle of complementarity: a comparison of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the situation in Darfur

Ofei, Peace Gifty Sakyibea January 2008 (has links)
This dissertation seeks to explore the principle of complementarity, its advantages and its success so far through the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) self-referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC). It seeks also to investigate whether there are loopholes in the principle of complementarity, especially with regard to referrals by the Security Council involving states that are not parties to the Rome Statute. In particular the dissertation seeks to explore whether states can use this principle to hamper the efforts of the ICC to bring justice to victims of the most serious crimes of international concern and to end impunity / Thesis (LLM (Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa)) -- University of Pretoria, 2008. / A Dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Law University of Pretoria, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Masters of Law (LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa).
