Spelar politiken någon roll? : En jämförelse mellan Kalmar kommun och Karlskrona kommun

Lind, Jenny January 2008 (has links)
<p>Currently, the whole globe is faced with serious problems which negatively affect people around the world: increased pollution, excessive waste, and weather pattern changes. ‘Left’ and ‘right’ wing political parties alike have embraced ‘green’ politics and for many of these parties, environmental issues have become a top priority that is very much reflected in their manifestos. This study examines the environmental goals of two of Sweden’s largest political parties and how these ambitions are reflected at a local level. The conclusions I have drawn in the study have been achieved by analysing official documents and by the comparison between two Swedish municipalities. As a result of my research, I have learned that the political leanings of a party are substantial in determining the goals and works for long-term sustainability at a local level. However, whether the prevailing parties are of the ‘left’ or ‘right’ political orientation does not seem to be of big importance because both ‘wings’ in Sweden are very liberal and have very similar environmental goals.</p>

A comparative study of left and right lateralised adolescents with regard to spatial ability

Smith, Stanley Andrew 01 April 2014 (has links)
M.A. (Psychology) / Spatial ability as a cognitive ability has for some time been recognised as a distinct component in the intellectual make-up of the individual. Since the earliest identification of spatial ability in the 1920's, interest has been shown in the fuller understanding of this ability. Many controversies still exist since spatial ability has yet to be defined in a definitive manner. Spatial ability has received relatively little attention. Since a relationship between spatial ability and occupational success has been established, more interest has been shown in this field. Spatial ability is as important as language for survival in the business world and more so in the technical field. Spatial ability is synonymous with the socalled "minor" hemisphere. The importance of the "minor" hemisphere and in particular the link between the right hemisphere and the language centres of the left hemisphere, has recently been. recognised. This recognition is found where the right hemisphere together with the damaged left hemisphere may be included in a rehabilitation programme. Spatial ability is the product of environmental influences which include child rearing practices, education and nutrition. Other influences are of a genetic, hormonal and neurological nature. Associated the concept terms, the associated with of left with the cognitive functions of the brain, is lateralisation of functions.

Left-handed teaching techniques for the right handed

Longo-Bartel, Martha Jane 01 January 2000 (has links)
Left-handedness is an invisible handicap in today's classrooms. The education systsem in the United States makes special considerations and accommodations for special needs of students, yet left-handed individuals do not receive much consideration in a mainstream classroom. Experts say that up to twenty percent of children in Canada and the United States are left-handed. This project discusses how these left-handed children have to work in a right-handed world. The focus of this study was to provide right-handed teachers with teaching techniques, positive suggestions, and common sense approaches to accomodate the left-handed pupil.

Genotypic Handedness, Memory, and Cerebral Lateralization

Perotti, Laurence Peter 08 1900 (has links)
The relationship of current manual preference (phenotypic handedness) and family history of handedness (genotypic handedness) to memory for imageable stimuli was studied. The purpose of the study was to test the hypothesis that genotypic handedness was related to lessened cerebral lateralization of Paivio's (1969) dual memory systems. The structure of memory was not at issue, but the mediation of storage and retrieval in memory has been explained with reference to verbal or imaginal processes. Verbal mediation theories and supporting data were reviewed along with imaginal theories and supporting data for these latter theories. Paivio's (1969) dual coding and processing theory was considered a conceptual bridge between the competing positions.

Proteinový profil, metabolické enzymy a transmembránová signalizace v myokardu spontánně hypertenzního potkana kmene SHR-Tg19 / Protein profiling, metabolic enzymes and transmembrane signaling in the heart of spontaneously hypertensive SHR-Tg19 rat

Manakov, Dmitry January 2018 (has links)
Cardiovascular diseases account for the majority of deaths both worldwide and in the Czech Republic. Main factors contributing heart disease development, aside age and sex, are obesity, high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) was developed and used for search of genetic determinants of these traits. This commonly used rat model develops hypertension, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance naturally which is caused by aberrant Cd36 fatty acid translocase gene. Previous studies have shown that rescue of Cd36 performed in the transgenic SHR-Tg19 strain enhances cardiac beta-adrenergic system, slightly increases heart mass and leads to higher susceptibility to arrhythmias. The present thesis had two main aims: 1) To investigate whether and how a transgenic rescue of Cd36 in SHR affects protein composition, mitochondrial function and activity of selected metabolic enzymes of the heart. 2) To study the expression and distribution of selected components of beta-adrenergic signaling system in lipid raft isolated form membranes using the TX-100 detergent. We set to compare two commonly used proteomic approaches, 2D electrophoresis with MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and label-free LC-MS. The results did not reveal any overlap between...

Individual differences in imaginal and verbal information processing abilities

Anderson, Joan Marie 01 January 1980 (has links)
The present research is based on the theory that there are two major modes of consciousness, verbal and imaginal, which are controlled by the left and right hemispheres, respectively. This project was concerned with the relationship between these modes of consciousness and the measures employed in this study. The measures employed were an ongoing mentation report (OMR), a paired-associate learning (PAL) task, the Betts vividness of imagery questionnaire, the Gordon test of imagery control, and the visual imagery scale of Imaginal Processes Inventory (IPI). EEG and EOG measures were recorded during the OMR, and lateral eye movement was taken as an indication of activation in the cerebral hemisphere contralateral to the direction of eye movement.
