Pricing Strategies for E-Sourcing SaaS

There has been a recent, quick growth in the market for e-sourcing and e- procurement Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). However, the software products are not yet commoditized which opens up for different ways of pricing the services. This prompts us to ask the questions: how does technological development within an industry affect the price and what are the aspects of pricing that makes it sustainable and competitive for the future? To find out, an extensive literature study was conducted together with interviews, both with the case company Trade Extensions, as well as SaaS consumers, other SaaS vendors and experts in the field. SaaS consumers did regard security as important but they were confident that the tools they used were secure. We found that competitive and sustainable price models are flexible, have lock-in effects, produce predictable revenues and costs, are easy to communicate and invite to first-time usage. While trying to achieve this, a software provider also should take into account whether they are a price maker or price taker, and also allow their price model to change with customer needs and technology. Upcoming technologies that are likely to have an impact on the SaaS industry are artificial intelligence, Internet of things, cognitive and mobile analytics. When choosing price models companies should be aware of what aspects of price that are important to their customers. They must evolve their price model with the technology and be ever vigilant to upcoming security issues and growing technological trends. There might be reasons to create more flexibility for customers by providing options for type of price model or different versions of their product.

Cloud Computing : Security Risks, SLA, and Trust

With Cloud Computing becoming a popular term on the Information Technology (IT) market, security and accountability has become important issues to highlight. In our research we review these concepts by focusing on security risks with Cloud Computing and the associated services; Software, Platform and Infrastructure (SPI) and connecting them with a social study of trust. The method that was conducted during our research was reviewing secondary literature, interviewing different experts regarding Cloud Computing and relating standards already established by ENISA, NIST, and CSA to the interviews. The result of this study shows connections between the specific SPIs, both how they compare, but also how they differ. In the end we were also able to rank the top security risks from interviews with experts and see which SPI could be the most insecure one and  what countermeasures could be applied. This was further related to trust and Service Level Agreement (SLA) in Cloud Computing to show how the security risks we discuss are related to these two specific areas. By highlighting this we wanted to present useable information for both clients and providers in how to create a better Cloud Computing environment.

Analýza potenciálu SaaS v malých a středních podnicích / Analyses of potential of Software as a Service model in small and medium enterprises

This paper analyses potential of Software as a Service (SaaS) model in small and medium enterprises (SME). SaaS model is rapidly expanding trend between software delivery models. The first chapter describes evolution of software delivery models, which peaks in the most recent "Software as a Service" model. It analyses key features of SaaS in qualitative, technological and legal dimensions. The first chapter also mentions assesment methods for IT investments. This chapter introduces basic theoretical framework for next chapters. Next chapter focuses on category of small and medium enterprises. It defines main macroeconomic indicators and organizational specifics of SMEs. This chapter also presents results of research into reasons for and against the use of applications with SaaS model in small and medium enterprises. Last chapter selects the most common software categories used by small and medium enterprises. For each category it analyses and describes current state of the SaaS market. After analysing the market situation, it selects broad range of applications for each category. Using multi-dimensional approach it recommends three products best suited for SMEs. For all categories it maps potential of the three recommended products. These three products are then thoroughly compared with each other using extended set of criteria. The chapter ends with a summary of possibilities offered by these applications to SMEs.

In my graduation theses I tried to define the system of human resource management in large companies, to analyse the requirements, and to predict developing trends in this sphere of business. According to the provided information I also made a compare of two products that are used in large firms based on portal fort the employee. For my work I mostly used information from companies that develop these systems, specialists in this field and from literature or other sources of information. All the sources are listed at the end of the theses. The theses are devided into five main parts: definition of the human resource management systems, description of large companies, requeirements, procedure of choosing the system for their comparison and the final recommendations, conclusions.

Integrace aplikací SaaS do podnikového informačního systému / Integration of SaaS applications into business information systems

The thesis deals with an analysis of approach methods, that can be used in integration of SaaS model applications into business information systems. To this end it presents business information systems. Description of these was performed from a general viewpoint. A description of what business information systems are was provided as well as a description of their architecture and service-oriented architecture. Business information sysstems were then described from a development/operation point of view, particular phases of the corelation between business and ICT were summed up, as well as ICT service supply models and development and operation alternatives. At the end of the chapter, a description of business information system components was performed. Services were described in the next chapter - first generally, with special interest in service characteristics and categorization. Furthermore I explored the concept of 'Anything as a Service' (XaaS), providing a summary of what can be provided as a service. Then a distribution model for Software as a Service (SaaS) was described along with its characteristics, parameters, benefits and limitations. At the end of the chapter cloud computing, its characteristics and models of implementation were described and the most notable providers were presented. The next chapter contains a description of integration and is targetted mostly on the description of system integration, on the system integrator as a person, on a description of technological means, usable in the integration itself. The next chapter is dedicated to a description of integration scenarios of business IS using SaaS applications. In the next chapter, an approach to the analysis of integration scenarios is defined, based on various viewpoints. The last chapter contains an assesment of particular integration scenarios and a consequential evaluation performed along evaluation criteria.

This thesis deals with the possibilities of enterprise informatics solutions in the SME (small and medium enterprises). This target group is further specified and is taken into account especially the most strongly represented subjects in SMEs - micro-enterprises. The main goal of this work is exploring the practical use of modern trends in information systems such as cloud computing or SaaS in direct comparison with conventional enterprise informatics solutions. In the first part is the space dedicated primarily to theoretical definition of concepts and identification of elaborated topics. Inside acquaintance with individual technical terms there is an example of one particular definition of company enterprise informatics solutions demonstrated with practical examples. The needs and solving the needs of small businesses are then generalized to the common needs of such small companies. Another part is dedicated to the actual analysis of the market and possible solutions of enterprise informatics. According to the specific needs of small businesses several optimal solutions are selected and further more thoroughly investigated and tested. The collected data serve for subsequent comparison of possible enterprise informatics solutions with particular results. The reader himself can assess complexity and price of technologies, especially in the context of conventional solutions and new products. For evaluation of the needs of these small companies primarily MMDIS principles of the methodology are used. In conclusion of the thesis there is the evaluation of detected findings and creating of recommendations for these small businesses.

This paper deals with the implementation of SaaS in the Russian market, especially in the Ural region of the Russian Federation -- Republic of Bashkortostan. SaaS is usually considered as an alternative way for the dominant model of software installation at the customer office. SaaS has certain key differences related to the use of different types of outsourcing and switching from buying products for permanent use to the system with subscription fee, depending on the specific use of resources. The goal of the theoretical part of the paper is to construct the comprehensive picture of Cloud computing, cloud services especially SaaS, to identify the strengths and weaknesses of SaaS technology, call attention to issues of risk, safety, the process of deployment, focus on the analysis of the status of SaaS information systems in the world and analyze situation on the Russian market. The goal of the theoretical part of the paper is to get acquainted with the companies in the Ural region of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Bashkortostan, to show their attitude to cloud-based technologies, highlight the exploration and use of SaaS in the Republic of Bashkortostan, compare the current situation in Russian enterprises with the status of SaaS in the world. By questionnaire survey I will obtain basic data of the awareness and use of SaaS in this region of Russia. The expected benefits of work may include extending the knowledge of readers about Cloud computing and one of its services - the form of SaaS. Next benefit is that Czech managers and directors can use this paper during the decision on the implementation of this model in their business.

Amidst the growth of the global Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry, researchers have begun to scrutinize current valuation methods when applied to SaaS firms, and investors have widely embraced and adopted their own rules of thumb for SaaS company valuation. One of which is the 'Rule of 40', which is characterized by growth and profitability. This study employs an explanatory approach, and applies a cross-sectional multivariate regression model, to analyze the influence of growth and profitability on the valuation of 36 public SaaS companies operating in the Nordic B2B market. This study seeks to complement the present body of literature with insights on the synergy between growth and profitability in valuation, in the context of public SaaS companies. The resulting regression model yields two key findings: (1) EBITDA and EBIT have a negative relationship to the valuation multiple (EV/Sales); (2) Revenue growth maintains a positive relationship to the valuation multiple. These key findings indicate that Nordic SaaS investors accord higher valuation multiples to companies with higher growth rates and lower profitability margins. More importantly, the results indicate a significant disparity between the two metrics, where growth significantly outweighs profitability, as opposed to the equal weight implied in the 'Rule of 40'. / I respons till tillväxten av den globala Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) branschen har forskare börjat granska nuvarande värderingsmetoder när de tillämpas på SaaS-företag, samtidigt som investerare har i stor utsträckning anammat och antagit sina egna tumregler för SaaS-företagsvärdering. En av dessa är 'Rule of 40', som kännetecknas av tillväxt och lönsamhet. Denna studie använder sig av ett förklarande tillvägagångssätt, och tillämpar tvärsnittsdata i en multivariat regressionsmodell, för att analysera inverkan av tillväxt och lönsamhet på värderingen av 36 offentliga SaaS-företag verksamma på den nordiska B2B-marknaden. Denna studie syftar till att komplettera den nuvarande litteraturen med insikter om synergin mellan tillväxt och lönsamhet vid värdering i samband med offentliga SaaS-företag. Den resulterande regressionsmodellen fastställer två huvudsakliga fynd: (1) EBITDA och EBIT har ett negativt samband med värderingsmultipeln (EV/Sales); (2) omsättningstillväxt upprätthåller ett positivt förhållande till värderingsmultipeln. Disruptive business model transitioning in B2B : A subscription-based approach for Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 has introduced technologies such as machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing, which has disrupted markets across different industries. These technologies are prime examples of what has come to be known as disruptive innovations. With the advancement of disruptive innovations, organizations are constantly looking for new ways to satisfy customer needs. Therefore, organizations have begun to investigate alternative business models that differ from the conventional way of selling products/services. Within B2C-markets, the rise of subscription-based services has not gone unnoticed and has turned into a prominent business model among Fortune-500 organizations. Within B2B-practices however, subscription-based business models are mostly unheard of. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine how IndustryInternet of Things (IIoT) solution providers successfully can transition to a subscription-based business model when launching IoT-based disruptive innovations in industry 4.0 B2B-markets. This purpose was investigated in a quantitative study by constructing a questionnaire based on an adjusted six-factor Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) model. The model was used to stipulate factors influencing buying intention for IoT-technologies. The study was further complemented by qualitative interviews, which aimed to shed more light on buyer's perception of subscription-based business models for IoT-technologies. The respondents consisted of purchasing function employees within the chemical-, food and beverage-, and life sciences industries in Scandinavia and the US. The quantitative results showed that performance expectancy had the most significant impact on buying intention. The qualitative results stipulated themes based on each UTAUT2 factor while also enlightening how interviewees emphasize the importance of not hiding costs and raised concerns regarding the transfer of data ownership when purchasing IoT-technologies. To conclude, the authors stipulated a conceptual framework for the implementation of subscription-based business models when introducing of IoT-technologies within B2B-markets.

Deployment Cost Optimization For Real-Time Risk SaaS Services In The Cloud

Microservice-based applications thrive when each service performs a specific, well-defined task independently, contributing to the overall system. However, what happens when these independent services overlap? Could consolidating some of these services yield substantial benefits? This thesis delves into the securities overlap among services within the Nasdaq Risk Platform. By evaluating metrics such as memory consumption, JVM overhead, and CPU utilization, it identifies potential candidates for consolidation. A proof-of-concept consolidation of actual Nasdaq Risk Platform services was deployed and compared against a non-consolidated version. The analysis revealed that the consolidated version performs similarly but exhibits a more uniform and stable usage curve. Additionally, by reducing the number of JVMs and combining the service securities cache, the total RAM usage decreased by 28%.
