With the development of both hardware and software, video games are evolving rapidly. Now that video games have achieved near-cinematic visuals, the market for video games is growing, and the number of players is increasing. In addition to the stunning features of video games, at the heart of serious games, they are used as a medium to spread knowledge and teach players something. The main teaching topic in this research is a piece of knowledge in the eight trigrams, one of the traditional cultural symbols of China. The focus is on the effectiveness of using games to convey cultural knowledge. There are cultural barriers between different countries because of different histories and languages, but the spread of cultural understanding can help people from different cultures better understand each other. However, the learning of different cultures is not compulsory, because cultural knowledge from other countries will not affect people's basic life, so in most countries in the world, cultural learning does not belong to the category of primary education. Due to their worldwide presence, video games, through incorporation of cultural themes and ideas into the game, can achieve promotion of this knowledge.

A Parallel Network for Compressed Video Enhancement

Recent years, we have witnessed significant progress in the quality enhancement of compressed video by deep learning methods. In this paper, we propose an effective method for Video Quality Enhancement(VQE) task. Our method is realized via \textbf{A Parallel Network for Compressed Video Enhancement(PEN)}. To tackle optical flow estimates and complicated motion, PEN has two branches which are \textbf{Offset Deformable Fusion Network(ODFN)} and \textbf{Complex Motion Solution Network(CMSN)}. During the alignment stage, existing methods typically estimate optical flow for temporal motion compensation. However, because the compressed video may be severely distorted as a result of various compression artifacts, the estimated optical flow is typically inaccurate and unreliable. Therefore in ODFN we use deformable convolution to align frames in a fast and efficient way. At the same time, we adopt pyramidal processing and cascading refinement in CMSN which can address complex motions and large parallax problems in alignment. Furthermore, we use the target frame's neighbor Peak Quality frames(PQFs) as reference frames, which adjusts for video quality variations. Extensive experiments show that our method has improved the average video quality by 0.7 decibel. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc) / The quality of video is improving as cameras improve, but the size of the video is also increasing. As a result, we will need to compress the video. Video compression, on the other hand, is always accompanied with a loss of video quality. Deep learning approaches have made tremendous progress in improving the quality of compressed video in recent years. In this paper, we propose an effective method PEN for Video Quality Enhancement(VQE) task by parallel processing of multiple frames.

Sending Video Over WiMAX for Inter-Vehicle Communications

We present an OPNET model that uses WiMAX technology to send video packets in an advanced inter-vehicle VANET environment. Our work focuses on real-time video streaming. A video model was created based on live traffics trace and then integrated into a WIMAX OPNET model. VANET mobility was modeled with a real world road map and VANET mobility simulators. We integrate an implementable controller over RTP to handle congestion control by setting a framework fit for future road safety development. Different mobility cases are studied and the performance measures such as end-to-end delay, jitter and visual experience are evaluated. Different design considerations are presented to enable designers to effectively build on and develop a realistic video VANET simulation model.

Video Compression via Predictable Coding over Virtual Frames

Video applications have become more and more common in the past few decades, in the meantime, optimizing video coding has received more attention. Existing video codecs usually focus on the encoder itself, and try to do everything possible to compress video with spatial (intraframe) compression and temporal (interframe) compression with the premise of reasonable distortion rate and video performance. In this work, we proposed a practical approach to improve video coding efficiency at a lower bitrate, which is to combine traditional Video Codec with interpolation neural network. A new concept called ``virtual frames'' was proposed and applied to the video coding process. We use raw frames as Ground Truth and virtual frames to train the interpolation neural network GDCN (Generalized Deformable Convolution Network), then encode the video synthesized with virtual frames via traditional AV1 video codec. With the pre-trained network, we could simply reconstruct the frames. Video is often required to give the flight test engineers a view of critical events during a test such as instrumentation performance or weapons separation. Digital video systems are required because they allow encryption of the video information during transmission. This paper describes a Digital Video Telemetry System that uses improved video compression techniques which typically offer at least a 10:1 improvement in image quality over currently used techniques. This improvement is the result of inter-frame coding and motion compensation which other systems do not use. Better quality video at the same bit rate, or the same quality video at a lower bit rate is achieved. The Digital Video Telemetry System also provides for multiplexing the video information with other telemetered data prior to encryption.
