A poesia, a música e a performance da canção : "alma minha gentil" - um estudo de caso na obra de Glauco Velásquez /Campos, José Eduardo Oliva Silveira. January 2006 (has links)
Abstract: This study seeks to determine a study method for reflections about the preparation and performance of songs for voice and piano. Following the suggestions proposed by Deborah Stein and Robert Spillman in Poetry into Song: Performance and Analysis of Lieder. Through study of the poetry, the music and aspects related specifically to performance, the preparation of the song "Alma minha gentil" by Glauco Velásquez with two different singers was used the basis of study. The composer and his historical context are studied, including a catalogue of his 32 songs for voice and piano. The form and content of the poem are studied at length. Musical aspects, including formal analysis, melody, harmony and musical rhythm, are investigate. Interpretative aspects for both permormes are discussed, including dynamics and their nuances, vocal timbre, vocal and pianistic style. A performance of the song "Alma minha gentil" is presented in CD format as a result of the aspects discussed above.Although applied apecifically to one song, the method developed can be applied to the study of any other song. Attached are copies in manuscript and digital form of "Alma minha gentil" and CD which presents the two versions of the song in performance. / Orientador: Martha Herr / Coorientador: André Rangel / Banca: Giacomo Bartoloni / Banca: Ricardo Ballestero / Mestre

A Survey of the Research Literature on the Female High VoiceStephen, Roberta M. (Roberta Mae) 12 1900 (has links)
The location of the available research literature and its relationship to the pedagogy of the female high voice is the subject of this thesis. The nature and pedagogy of the female high voice are described in the first four chapters. The next two chapters discuss maintenance of the voice in conventional and experimental repertoire. Chapter seven is a summary of all the pedagogy. The last chapter is a comparison of the nature and the pedagogy of the female high voice with recommended areas for further research. For instance, more information is needed to understand the acoustic factors of vibrato, singer's formant, and high energy levels in the female high voice.

A critical study in the management of the female adolescent voiceGoosen, Gysbert Jacobus January 2014 (has links)
This treatise is a qualitative study that critically explores a current body of knowledge significant to the development of the female adolescent voice. The female adolescent voice is a field that is relatively under-researched in comparison to the male adolescent voice, although research in this regard has shown an increase in interest in the last two decades (Gackle 2011: 11). However, information related to the male adolescent voice still far outweighs the female adolescent voice. This study, through the use of six secondary objectives, identifies and highlights areas of the female adolescent voice development, where much of the current research lacks depth and insight. It therefore analyses and compares applicable literature in an attempt principally to contribute to a more structured and academic approach in this field. Insight into the auditory effects that occur during physiological mutation is further supported by investigating the functioning of the female voice registers and the respective influences of these on the different phases of vocal development of the female adolescent. The assistance and expertise of the conductor in this process, as well as in common areas such as voice classification, auditioning, voice placement, and repertoire selection are investigated to further consolidate and compare possible interventions for problems pertaining specifically to the female adolescent voice. The study concludes with a summary of the treatise and proposes suggestions for further study in this field.

Middle Voice Construction in Burushaski: From the Perspective of a Native Speaker of the Hunza DialectKarim, Piar 05 1900 (has links)
This study is about voice system in Burushaski, focusing especially on the middle voice (MV) construction. It claims that the [dd-] verbal prefix is an overt morphological middle marker for MV constructions, while the [n-] verbal prefix is a morphological marker for passive voice. The data primarily come from the Hunza dialect of Burushaski, but analogous phenomena can be observed in other dialects. This research is based on a corpus of 120 dd-prefix verbs. This research has showed that position {-2} on the verb template is occupied by voice-marker in Burushaski. The author argues that the middle marker is a semantic category of its own and that it is clearly distinguished from the reflexive marker in this language. The analysis of the phenomenon in this study only comes from the dialect of Hunza Burushaski, so a lot of research remains to be done on the other three dialects of Burushaski: Yasin dialect, Nagar dialect and Srinagar dialect.

Reviewing Commercial Music Resources: a Guide for Aspiring Singers and Vocal ProfessionalsHanlon, Susan Christina 05 1900 (has links)
Contemporary commercial music is a broad label used to describe the styles of popular music including pop, rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, hip-hop, country and heavy metal. the vocal ability required for each of these genres varies greatly but may require the use of screaming, belting, utilizing vocal fry and growling or singing with a breathy or dark tone. Singers who wish to perform in these genres may need assistance with vocal technique to assure the longevity and the quality of their singing. Due to the rise in popularity and the accessibility of contemporary commercial music (CCM), commercial pedagogical guides and self-study manuals are abundantly available for purchase. Aspiring singers are searching for appropriate training for this genre without having an awareness of how the voice works and how to maintain good vocal hygiene. Those who seek out private instruction are often frustrated when traditional classical training techniques are offered, rather than techniques utilizing CCM styles. Because CCM pedagogy is relatively new and few pedagogues in this specialized field are well known, the self-taught singer is responsible for finding a reliable study source. Many vocal instructors and choral directors are interested in familiarizing themselves with new stylistic techniques to enhance the performance of their students while maintaining vocal health. By reviewing popular vocal method books and techniques, insight may be given to assist a singer or vocal teacher in selecting resources of CCM styles.
