[pt] Esta dissertação tem o objetivo de realizar, a partir do ponto de vista da psicanálise, uma investigação a respeito das conseqüências subjetivas trazidas pelas recentes transformações no mundo do trabalho. Na psicanálise, identificamos uma associação entre trabalho e sublimação, considerada elemento central para a produção de cultura e para o funcionamento psíquico. Um exame acerca da construção do conceito de sublimação na obra de Freud permite destacar como seus traços distintivos o caráter assexual, a produção de cultura derivada de sua realização, além de uma forma de proteção psíquica. No entanto, a avaliação do trabalho na atualidade põe em questão a relação entre trabalho e sublimação, especialmente no que se refere à função protetora da atividade sublimatória. Considerando, então, que a idealização também pode estar envolvida na construção da cultura, a partir da inibição da meta pulsional em que se sustenta, sugerimos que esta desempenha um papel central na composição do cenário atual do trabalho, sobrepondo-se à importância tradicionalmente atribuída à sublimação. / [en] This dissertation has the objective of accomplishing a psychoanalytical investigation about the subjective consequences of changes in the field of work. In psychoanalysis there is an association between work and sublimation which is considered central to the production of culture and the psychic functioning. A review on the construction of the concept of sublimation in Freud s texts points at its distinctive features such as its asexual character, the production of culture and a form of psychic protection. However, the evaluation of the work field today calls into question the relationship between work and sublimation, especially when it comes to the protective function of sublimation. Considering that idealization can also be involved in the construction of culture, based on aiminhibited drives, we suggest that it plays a central role in the composition of the current work field, overriding the importance traditionally attributed to sublimation.

[pt] Esta tese consiste na realização de uma investigação acerca dos conceitos de sublimação e idealização em psicanálise, com o intuito de verificar a hipótese de que ambas participam do processo de constituição da cultura. Para tanto, sugerimos que, no texto freudiano, a cultura é concebida como uma resposta à condição inexorável de desamparo e que sua constituição depende da renúncia à satisfação pulsional. Embora a sublimação seja o destino pulsional que tradicionalmente é associado à construção da cultura, propomos que também a idealização participa deste processo. Tanto a sublimação quanto a idealização atenderiam à renúncia pulsional exigida pela cultura, mas enquanto a sublimação renunciaria aos objetivos iniciais da pulsão a partir da dessexualização, a idealização apenas inibiria meta original da pulsão. A partir disso, sugerimos que na atualidade observa-se, por um lado, um declínio da atividade sublimatória e, por outro, um aumento da idealização. / [en] This thesis proposes an investigation about the concepts of sublimation and idealization in psychoanalysis, in order to verify the hypothesis that both participate in the constitution of culture. Thus we suggest that, in the Freud s text, culture is conceived as a response to the inexorable condition of helplessness and that its constitution depends upon the renunciation of instinctual satisfaction. Although sublimation is the instinctual vicissitude that is traditionally associated with the construction of culture, we propose that idealization also participates in this process. Both sublimation and idealization comply with the instinctual renunciation required by culture, but while sublimation renounces to the initial aims of the drive through desexualization, idealization only inhibits the original aim of the instinct. Finally, we suggest that the dynamics of contemporary society allow for the hipotesis of, on one hand, a decrease in sublimatory activity and, in the other hand, an increase of idealization.

[pt] Este trabalho consiste numa discussão sobre o destino do objeto nos casoslimite diante das dificuldades envolvidas nas relações primárias com o objeto absolutamente necessário no início da vida psíquica. Quando este objeto falha sucessivamente em desempenhar suas funções adequadamente, em um momento muito primitivo de despreparo subjetivo, a constituição psíquica é marcada por traumatismos primários que impedem o luto e o trabalho do negativo estruturante, ocasionando negativizações que desorganizam o interior do aparelho psíquico e impedem a construção de um espaço de ausência fecundo para o surgimento de representações que estruturam o pensamento. Ao fracassar em sua ação constitutiva, o trabalho do negativo vai operar de forma patológica, impossibilitando o apagamento do objeto primário que é insistentemente mantido no campo psíquico por meio de sucessivas clivagens e idealizações que cristalizam e purificam o objeto. Enquanto a clivagem consiste em uma saída negativizante mal-sucedida que visa afastar as partes não representáveis da vivência traumática que ameaçam retornar desorganizando a frágil delimitação intrapsíquica e intersubjetiva, a idealização excessiva, por sua vez, é uma estratégia defensiva que confere ao objeto uma posição inacessível, rígida e fixa, ação que entrava o trabalho de luto, resultando, assim, no entupimento do espaço pessoal e na obstrução do pensamento. / [en] This dissertation intends to discuss the vicissitudes of the object in borderline patients faced with difficulties involved in relationships with the object absolutely necessary at the beginning of psychic life. When this object successively fails to perform its functions adequately, in a very primitive moment of subjective unpreparedness, the psychic constitution is marked by primary traumatisms that prevent mourning and the structuring work of the negative, causing negative actions that disrupt the interior of the psychic apparatus and prevent the building up of an empty space that could make possible the emergence of representations that structure thought. By failing in its constitutive act, the work of the negative operates in a pathological way, preventing the effacement of the primary object that is consistently maintained in the psychic sphere as a result of hrough successive splittings and idealizations that crystallize and purify the object. Thus splitting consists in an unsuccessful negative action which attempts to get rid of the unrepresentable aspects linked to the traumatic experience, which threaten to return, disorganizing the fragiles intrapsychic and intersubjective boundaries. Excessive idealization, on the other hand, is a defensive strategy that gives the object an inaccessible rigid and fixed position that interferes with the work of mourning, thus resulting in the clogging of personal space and the obstruction of thought.
