Enthusiastic game players around the world are always looking for fun and exciting games which are easily accessible from their handheld devices like smartphones, tablets etc. Checkers is one such mobile game app based on the popular game American Checkers or Draughts and is developed on Android platform. This game is turn based in which players play against each other. The player capture the pieces of opponent and progresses diagonally, trying to become the winner by capturing all the pieces of opponent or blocking the opponent so that there is no legal moves left. There are various features in the game. Instant messaging allows players to chat during the game.. Saved Games feature lets users to play the incomplete games later. Leaderboards and Scores make the game competitive as players can see their rankings and scores after the game. Tournaments and Scheduling enables players to schedule matches. Tournament is scheduled with Round Robin process wherein each player plays with all other players in turn and finally winner is declared after end of the game.

Verificando os pontos em comum entre a fotografia como instrumento de composição e captura de imagens do mundo real, e a produção de imagens com gráficos cada vez mais realistas, para os jogos. Além de sua existência e importância no contexto dos jogos digitais. Para esta pesquisa foram descritos os efeitos fotográficos enquanto elementos usados na concepção da composição da imagem fotográfica. Também foi descrita a relação entre a qualidade da imagem e os gráficos utilizados na concepção dos jogos digitais através da evolução histórica dos equipamentos computacionais que produzem estes gráficos. Depois foram analisados os cenários dos jogos em diversos pontos da evolução desta história. Após estas análises foram avaliadas a existência e a importância do uso dos elementos de composição fotográfica na concepção dos jogos digitais. Apontando que a evolução dos equipamentos gráficos dedicados aos jogos digitais influencia diretamente na existência dos efeitos fotográficos nas imagens dos jogos. Quanto maior a qualidade dos gráficos nos games, consequentemente os elementos individuais da fotografia estão presentes na mesma proporção.

Game theoretic methods for networked sensors and dynamic spectrum access

Automated devices enabled by wireless communications are deployed for a variety of purposes. As they become more ubiquitous, their interaction becomes increasingly important for coexistence when sharing a scarce resource, and for leveraging potential cooperation to achieve larger design goals. This thesis investigates the use of game theory as a tool for design and analysis of networked systems of automated devices in the areas of naval defence, wireless environmental monitoring through sensor networks, and cognitive radio wireless communications. In the first part, decentralized operation of naval platforms deploying electronic countermeasures against missile threats is studied. The problem is formulated as a stochastic game in which platforms independently plan and execute dynamic strategies to defeat threats in two situations: where coordination is impossible due to lack of communications, and where platforms hold different objectives but can coordinate, according to the military doctrine of Network Enabled Operations. The result is a flexible, robust model for missile deflection for advanced naval groups. Next, the problem of cooperative environmental monitoring and communication in energy-constrained wireless sensor networks is considered from a game-theoretic perspective. This leads to novel protocols in which sensors cooperatively trade off performance with energy consumption with low communication and complexity overhead. Two key results are an on-line adaptive learning algorithm for tracking the correlated equilibrium set of a slowly varying sensor deployment game, and an analysis of the equilibrium properties of threshold policies in a game with noisy, correlated measurements. Finally, the problem of dynamic spectrum access for systems of cognitive radios is considered. A game theoretic formulation leads to a scheme for competitive bandwidth allocation which respects radios' individual interests while enforcing fairness between users. Some factors affecting the winter range of Jasper National Park

Recent studies by Dr. I. McT. Cowan in Jasper National Park have revealed that many of the winter game ranges of the Park are heavily over-utilized by grazing and browsing animals. In order to correct this situation, it was first necessary to obtain accurate information on existing range conditions. Therefore, study of certain key areas of the Athabaska Valley was undertaken in the summer of 1946 and 1947 by Dr, Cowan and the author, for the purpose of describing existing plant growth, investigating factors affecting this plant growth, and recommending measures for improving range conditions. In carrying out the project, standard range survey methods were used on nine representative areas. Point sampling revealed the composition of the ground vegetation while cover estimates and numerical counts gave the status of trees and shrubs. Analyses of soil samples indicated the fertility of the soil of the various ranges. The relative utilization of the ranges by herbivores was estimated by defecation counts. In order to determine the productivity of the ranges equal amounts of ground vegetation were clipped, air-dried, and weighed. Exclosure plots, established in 1942, served as a type of control as productivity within the plots was compared to that outside. The Jasper cemetery was used as a relict area. As a result of the investigations it was concluded that the winter ranges of the Athabaska Valley vary greatly in their capacity to produce vegetation, and that all the ranges are over-utilized to a greater or lesser degree, principally by elk and horses. This over-utilization is producing a retrogressive succession of the ground vegetation which is rendering the ranges increasingly unproductive. Destruction of browse species and strict fire protection are hastening development of climax spruce forests on certain range areas. In order to correct present trends in the ecology of the Athabaska Valley it was recommended that the numbers of elk be greatly reduced, that annual censuses of game populations be made, that a cover map of the area be prepared and new exclosure plots set up, that periodic range studies be made, that horse grazing be prohibited, and that conifers be controlled on certain game ranges. / Science, Faculty of / Zoology, Department of / Graduate

Noncooperative games of information sharing and investment : theories and applications

The thesis considers the effects of public policy with respect to disclosure on rivalrous competition in duopolies. Principal contributions to the stochastic oligopoly theories of information sharing include imbedding an investment stage in the standard noncooperative two-stage information sharing/output (pricing) games under a wide range of assumptions about effects of investment or distributions of returns, and investigating the extent to which altering the usual preference assumption to allow risk aversion may affect information choice. At an information sharing level, it is established that, besides being sensitive to the type of competition and the nature of information asymmetries, as previously reported in the literature, private incentives to disclose also depend importantly on both the impact of investment and risk preferences. In this regard, equilibrium levels of investment are shown to be affected nontrivially by variance effects from investment, risk attitude of decision makers, as well as the type of industry rivalry. Also characterized are the welfare orderings obtained as a consequence of these varying disclosure effects on the decisions and hence profits of competing firms. If alternative accounting practices are distinguishable along the informativeness dimension, then, at an abstract level, the analysis can be seen as approaching the study of many accounting issues from a distinctly different perspective than the familiar tax or wealth transfer viewpoints. The principal contributions to the accounting literature include identifying the impact of disclosure rules or rule changes on industry, consumers, and society as a whole, and offering insights to the accounting policy makers concerning the results of disclosure regulation. / Business, Sauder School of / Graduate
