Table your story : Ett bord att leva med

Horner, Eleonor January 2010 (has links)
In this project I designed a table for the home, that you can live with through the life. It can easily be adapted to different needs and change when the life situation and needs change. The table should feel useful and get added value by telling personal stories and be something you want to keep and preserve.   Meanwhile, the table intended to be a starting point to get people to start thinking about their approach to consumption, and which values that are important in their lives, and in the long run reduce the unnecessary consumption.</p>

Literární cestovní ruch na území Česka / Literary tourism in Czechia

Ulrychová, Tereza January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the thesis was to clarify the role of literary tourism in Czechia and to evaluate its potential and possible uses. After that, a comparison based on foreign literature and sources was made between Czechia and other countries. The places selected in this thesis have a link to the life or work of a prominent Czech writer and seek to develop literary tourism, promote literature, attract visitors, etc. These are places where the writer's birthplace is open to the public and where museums with an exhibition focusing on that writer and the writer's works have been created and where literary festivals or other thematic events are organized etc. These places were approached with the offer of being involved in the making of a game called "Build your world" and a newly created smaller competition "In the footsteps of our writers". Collector magnets have been created for those who have agreed to be involved in these games. These magnets serve as a means to support the development of literary tourism in the Czech Republic and involve local actors in a nationwide event, which will raise awareness both of important writers and of the places associated with them. Very often the places involved are less visited ones. Key words: tourism, literary tourism, potential, Build your world, In the footsteps of...

Community College Grow Your Own Leadership: A Phenomenological Study of Employee Perceptions of Individual and Organizational Leadership Development

DeLozier, John 01 August 2019 (has links)
Community colleges often face challenges with leadership as a result of retirements and turnover. In reaction to these challenges some community colleges have developed Grow Your Own (GYO) leadership development programs. Although the topic of leadership and leadership development has been researched extensively, more research is necessary concerning GYO programs and their perceived impact on participants and their colleges. This study was designed to determine the perceived development of GYO participants as well as the perception of a GYO’s impact on the organization. Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) in Greensboro, North Carolina has had a GYO program for 30 years. A qualitative research method with a phenomenological theory design was used in this study. After obtaining permission from GTCC the 10 study participants were recruited through emails. Interviews were semi structured with questions designed to encourage discussion around the topic of leadership development. After each participant was interviewed, transcripts of the interview were made by the researcher and those transcripts were coded to determine themes. After the coding analysis was complete, common themes emerged. Each of the participants reported to have had previous roles in leadership prior to coming to GTCC. Most of the participants reported positive change because of attendance in the GYO in the areas of relationship building, networking, changed perspective of college role and mission, and better preparedness for future leadership opportunities. These findings supported earlier research that found GYO programs to be successful in creating valuable relationships across the organization. Research also supported the common theme of relationships formed both horizontally and vertically within the organization. Another common theme addressed in earlier research was the development of social capital development within the GYO program. This happens when individuals are brought together around information, given an action point, and asked to solve relevant organizational problems. This study may be useful for community colleges that already offer a GYO opportunity or are considering developing a GYO opportunity. Further research may be needed to determine the impact of the GYO leadership development training on those reporting to the participants of the program.

This is about a theoretical-practical analysis of the intervention of social service for this population. We have identified that social assistance, education and family perform activities articulated in a network in the territory inter-sectoriality, through social and public policies conquered since the Citizen Chart, of 1988. From this angle, the following were selected as social subjects. Families taken care by Abrace: family 1, up to one year of care; family 2, up to 5 years of care and family 3, taken care of for tem years, that is, since the Project was started. The criterion drawn up was the adhesion and permanence of these families within the project, the differences and specificities for the inclusion in the care, as well as the verification of the limits and possibilities of each one, to take part in the interviews, for these were made in domiciliary social visits. The methodological way chosen for the analysis and revelation of the study object is the case study, as a particular form of qualitative investigation which attempted to understand, from the perspective of these subjects who participate in the Project day by day, their comprehensions and meanings on this intervention, through semi structured interviews with a script. Suggestions are presented to put into practice an inter-sectorial and inter disciplinary public policy which must have centrality in the relationships among the public, the private and the organized civil society. Thus, it was understood that this population´s human needs will be made effective as a right in their integrality, in the daily exercise of conscious participation for the construction of an organized civil society, inclusive and intended for citizenship / O presente trabalho de dissertação de mestrado pretendeu desvelar e analisar a prática do Serviço Social no Projeto Abrace seu Bairro, da Sociedade Beneficente de Senhoras do Hospital Sírio Libanês - SBSHSL, responsável pelas ações de Promoção de Saúde direcionadas às famílias do bairro da Bela Vista, na cidade de São Paulo.

People on the Edges of Dreams

French, Francesca B. 17 November 1995 (has links)
This thesis is composed of a collection of twelve short stories, varying in length from 2 to 14 pages. Each story contains its own discrete theme, but fits as well within the overarching theme of the collection as a whole. This overarching theme is what gives the collection its cohesiveness. The main theme of the larger work can be found in the title of the collection, People on the Edges of Dreams. In many of the stories dreams, or dream-states, figure in the lives of the protagonists. In addition to the dream-state theme there is a less obvious theme, which has to do with the extent to which most or all of the main characters in the stories are faced with a kind of inescapable compassion for others. For example, the selfinvolved, self-gratifying protagonist in Matador cannot help but feel compassion first for Pearl, the woman he insults, and second for the "bums" on whom his livelihood depends. The theme of inescapable compassion can, I believe, be found to varying degrees in each of the stories in this collection.

Jorden åt folket : nationalföreningen mot emigrationen 1907-1925. / Land for the people. : The National Society Against Emigration 1907-1925.

Lindkvist, Anna January 2007 (has links)
<p>This thesis deals with the National Society Against Emigration (Sw.Nationalföreningen mot emigrationen) – referred to as the NE – and its radical right-wing leader Adrian Molin. Th e NE was founded in 1907 in order to stem the tide of emigration from Sweden and facilitate re-immigration by providing jobs and accomodation. By following both the successes and setbacks of the NE during the first decades of the twentieth century, ideas and opportunities circulating in Swedish society in a time of wide-ranging ideological and material change are discussed. Questions in focus include why a society to prevent</p><p>emigration from Sweden emerged at that particular time; the function it served for both society and the state; the form internal colonization actually took and how it was conducted in comparison with other governmental and private agricultural reforms; and the attitude of the NE toward modernization in general. The ideological analysis has been inspired by political scientist Michael Freeden´s theory of the construction of political ideologies via political concepts, as well as an analysis of the view of social categories such as gender, class and ethnicity. The experience of hope for informal caregivers of palliative home care patients : a grounded theory exploration

Holtslander, Lorraine Fay 17 November 2004
The purpose of this study was to explore the processes of hope in informal caregivers of palliative patients. Interviews were conducted with caregivers who were living with and currently providing care to a palliative patient at home. Saturation was reached with 10 caregivers, five females and five males, from 2 cities in Saskatchewan, Canada. <p>The design of this qualitative study was Glasers (2001) grounded theory. Broad, unstructured face to face audio taped interviews were conducted in the participants homes. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using constant-comparative method of analysis in order to identify the main concern of the participants related to hope, and the basic social processes used to resolve that concern. <p>Eroding hope was the main concern relating to hope during caregiving for a palliative patient. Eroding hope was a result of bad days, negative messages, and experiences with the health care system. The participants deal with eroding hope by using the basic social process of hanging on to hope. Hanging on to hope has 4 sub-processes: a)doing what you have to do, b)living in the moment, c)staying positive, and d)writing your own story. The support of friends, family, and health care professionals and connecting with something bigger and stronger were sub-processes of hanging on to hope that together directly affect the other sub-processes.<p>The findings of this study have direct application for the care and support of informal caregivers providing palliative care at home, as a basis for assessment and interventions that will assist caregivers to hang on to hope. Nurses and other health care professionals need to recognize and value the experience of hope for caregivers by addressing, teaching, and reinforcing the sub-processes and ways of hanging on to hope into their practice.

Participatory Pricing in Sport: An Examination of Name-Your-Own-Price and Pay-What-You-Want Pricing

Reese, Jason 1985- 14 March 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to better understand the effects participatory pricing strategies have on consumer perceptions and behaviors in a sport event pricing scenario. Participatory pricing strategies are those that include the consumer in setting the final price of a good or service. These mechanisms include name-your-own-price (NYOP) and pay-what-you-want (PWYW). These pricing strategies are now being introduced into the sport industry. With the increased use of these strategies, and the lack of research in sport management pertaining to consumers’ perceptions of price, specifically consumer voice in price setting, there is a gap in the literature that needs to be filled. This study investigates the consumer’s perceptions of price fairness, perceived value, as well as consumer behavior (i.e. purchase intentions and willingness-to-pay), when encountering participatory pricing strategies. The following dissertation presents a quantitative experimental design, asking subjects to participate in a simulated ticket purchase experience. Difference between experimental groups was assessed based on price fairness, perceived value, willingness-to-pay, and purchase intentions. Results indicate there is a significant difference between participatory pricing groups and traditional fixed price groups when examining price fairness, perceived value, willingness-to-pay, and final average prices paid. Specifically, price fairness evaluations were significantly higher for the PWYW and fixed price groups, and lower for the NYOP group. In addition to the price fairness differences, the groups differed on their evaluations of perceived value (PWYW and fixed are the same, both higher than NYOP). Furthermore, the results reveal that consumers involved in the NYOP mechanism evoked higher levels of willingness-to-pay than PWYW and fixed. Furthermore, the study also found that the final average price paid following the experiment differed based on the mechanism. The PWYW and fixed price mechanisms paid similar amounts, while both of them were significantly higher than the NYOP mechanism. This suggests that while one of the biggest concerns for the PWYW treatment is a low final average price (even $0); this may not be an issue in a sport ticket pricing scenario. Study limitations and future research are included in the following dissertation.
