The great commission, a sacred cantata for mixed chorus, soloists, and symphony orchestra

Breitweiser, David Paul January 1955 (has links)
Thesis (Ph.D.)--Boston University / The Great Commission is a sacred cantata written for mixed chorus, soprano, messo soprano, tenor, and bass soloists, and symphony orchestra. The main text, St. Mark xvi. 15-18, determines the general plan. It is composed in six parts with a finale. Part I contains the command of Jesus, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel." Parts II to VI are each made up of, (1) an introduction with the pronouncement of one of the signs which would follow, and, (2) a musical setting of a biblical text which is a fulfilment. Part I begins with a processional type introduction in g minor for full orchestra and marked Moderato maestoso. It is formed of irregular length phrases punctuated by short rests and introduces the entrance of the chorus, singing in unison, "Jesus came...and spoke", with the sopranos beginning on a high G. Bienes, prácticas y civilidades: tácticas para el blanqueamiento social de los africanos y afromestizos libres : Santiago, siglo XVIII

Camacho Buitrago, Dina January 2012 (has links)

The 'love of neighbour' (Lev 19:18) : the early reception history of its priestly formula

Akiyama, Kengo January 2015 (has links)
This thesis examines the early Jewish reception of the love command (Lev 19:18) during the Second Temple period. Although the ascendancy of this command as the “greatest” command in later Jewish and Christian writings is well-known, the historical interpretative process through which this levitical love command came to be viewed as such is not widely known. The thesis begins by examining the meaning of Lev 19:18 in its original context and then systematically traces its interpretation in Second Temple, Jewish literature by carefully examining its citations in context. The study examines the Greek translation of Lev 19:18 in the Septuagint, followed by a series of sustained exegetical analyses of interpretations of Lev 19:18 in the Book of Jubilees, the Damascus Document, the Community Rule, Galatians, Romans, James, and the Synoptic Gospels. Although the citations of Lev 19:18 are infrequent in the Second Temple period, a careful consideration of each occurrence demonstrates diverse, if complex, developments vis-à-vis Lev 19:18. It is argued that no mainstream Jewish interpretation of Lev 19:18 existed during the Second Temple period, and the analysis repudiates a simplistic, evolutionary trajectory (e.g., from restricted, intra-communal obligation to universal altruism) regarding its interpretative development. The study concludes by identifying important areas of development that paved the way for Lev 19:18 to become the indispensable, hermeneutical key and summary command in Jewish and Christian thought.

F.M. Dostojevskij: Idiot" - kostýmní výprava / F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY: THE IDIOT Costume Design

Tavelová, Helena January 2015 (has links)
This thesis F. M. Dostoevsky: The Idiot deals with the life of the author with an emphasis on his work, which is always current, because it concerns itself with increasingly vital topics related to human life. The thesis also deals with issues that are key to understanding Dostoevsky and his perception of the world and discusses the previous staging of the play in the Czech Republic, focusing on the work of the director Miroslav Krobot. Primarily, however, this thesis represents a detailed analysis of Dostoevsky's The Idiot and a detailed analysis of the individual dramatic characters within the play, with a focus on their internal processes and relationships, which are then expressed through costume.

METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study using 165 liquid-based cytology with squamous atypia and 149 without atypia. HPV genotyping by real-time PCR was performed on this material. The material was processed by COBAS® 4800 System (Roche), which has three detection channels: HPV 16, HPV 18, and HPV HR (other twelve high-risk genotypes). RESULTS:We analyzed 75 cases of ASC-US, 62 LSIL, 8 ASC-H, 12 HSIL and 8 squamous carcinomas. The average age was 32.2 years in the group without atypia, 31.1 years for ASC-US and LSIL, 41.2 years for ASC-H and HSIL and 43.1 years for SCC. There were 112 positive cases for HPV (68%) in the group with atypia: 72% positive for HPV AR, 18% of HPV16 and 10% of HPV 18. Only in ASC-US group, HPV positive and negative frequency was similar (1:1). In the others, the amount of HPV positive cases surpassed negative ones. In the group of Cytology without atypia were found 40 positive cases for HPV (26%): 68% positive for HPV AR probe, 17% of HPV18 and 15% of HPV16. Detections by a single probe predominated in both groups (88% and 84%). In the group with atypia the most prevalent combination was HPV16 and HPV HR (57%); and in cases without atypia was HPV18 and HPV HR (68%) and there was a single positive case for three channels in this group. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of other 12 high-risk HPV genotypes (not 16 and 18), was frequent in cytology with and without squamous atypia, associated or not with genotypes 16 and 18. The connection of squamous atypia with HPV 16 and HPV HR was significant. The data obtained are in agreement with the literature regarding the existence of heterogeneity in the distribution of different genotypes and their most frequent association as the level of atypia. RESULTADOS: Foram analisados 75 casos de ASC-US, 62 LSIL, 8 ASC-H, 12 HSIL e 8 carcinomas escamosos.

Evaluation of antinociceptive and antiinflammatory activity of two diterpenes and extracts from the stem bark of Xylopia langsdorffiana (Annonaceae).

Melo, Gabriela Muniz de Albuquerque 23 March 2009 (has links)
This study describes the results of the study of the antinociceptive and antiinflammatory activity of ethanolic extract (EEt) and chloroform (ECl) from Xylopia langsdorffiana St-Hil & Tul and the diterpenes acid labda-8(17),12E,14-trien-18-oic (XL) and acid ent-7α-acetoxytrachyloban-18-oic (XLC) of these isolates, respectively. Substances (XL and XLC, 300 μmol/Kg, i.p) and extracts (EEt and ECl, 100 mg/Kg, i.p.) inhibited significantly the number of abdominal writhes when compared to control. To evaluate the power and effectiveness of the substances XL, XLC and dipyrone (300 μmol/Kg 100 μmol/Kg , 30 μmol/Kg, 10 μmol/Kg e 1 μmol/Kg, i.p.) was calculated, the dose that inhibits 50 percent of the response (DI50). The DI50 of XL was 42,8 μmol/Kg, that of XLC was 17,41 μmol/Kg, dipyrone already submitted a DI50 of 14,68 μmol/Kg. Comparing the DI50 of XL, XLC and dipyrone may be observed that the XLC had a power greater than the XL, and the value of DI50 nearest the dipyrone. The xlc also showed that the efficiency XL In the test of nociception induced by formalin, the substances XL and XLC (100 μmol/Kg, i.p.) and extracts (EEt e ECl, 100 mg/Kg, i.p.) induced significant inhibition of licking time in both the neurogenic phase (41,52%, 33,69%, 40,12%, 79,4%, of inhibition, respectively), as in the inflammatory phase (44,1%, 63,9%, 62,7% e 83,7%, of inhibition, respectively) compared to the control. Substances (XL e XLC, 100 μmol/Kg, i.p) and the extracts (EEt e ECl, 100 mg/Kg, i.p.) were not active in hot plate test, which aims to assess the central antinociceptive activity. Using the test of ear edema induced by capsaicin, it was possible to determine that there was no statistically significant difference in percentage of inhibition of edema between the indomethacin (100 μmol/Kg, i.p.), used in standard drug test, and diterpenes XL and XLC in different concentrations (300, 100, 30, 1 e 0,3 μmol/Kg), (XLC trachylobano except at a concentration of 0,3 μmol/Kg). XL and XLC (100 μmol/Kg, i.p.), and the extract (EEt e ECl, 100 mg/Kg, i.p.), reduced the cell migration induced by Zymosan A, a statistically significant way. These substances and extracts induced a reduction in cell migration of 36,40%, 49,51%, 42,51%, 51,97%, respectively. XLC was not efficient to inhibit the progression of rheumatoid arthritis. In the model of acute toxicity, XL and XLC,were not toxic, while the opposite occurred for the administration of the extracts. Our results we infer that EEt and ECl from Xylopia langsdorffiana as its isolated XLC and XL have antinociceptive and antiinflammatory activity, being described by the first for these substances and extracts.
