Analisa também as características gerais dos acordos de 1998, 2001 e 2002, destacando tanto o processo de internalização dos parâmetros dos acordos, pelo uso das condicionalidades, visando a eliminação da discricionaridade da política econômica em relação às principais características da macroeconomia brasileira do período / Abstract: This dissertation analyses the transformations in Brazilian economy as a result of International Monetary Fund programs from 1998 to 2002, emphasizing the role change played by Fund in evolution of the international economy and the repercussions in one of the main instruments of the institution: conditionalities. It also analyses the general characteristics of the agreements in 1998, 2001 and 2002, with emphasis in the process of internationalizing the agreement, by using conditionalities, in order to eliminate the discricionarity of political economy, as well as the main characteristics of the Brazilian macroeconomy in this period / Mestrado / Mestre em Ciências Econômicas

This thesis focusses on the literary self-reflexivity of Birthday Letters, Ted Hughes's collection of poems addressed to his long-dead first wife, poet Sylvia Plath. By close attention to the language of select poems and a discussion of cross-referencing images and allusions across the volume, and intertextually, I argue that the collection is more self-consciously ordered and designed than the mainly biographical criticism the work has met with suggests. The thesis focusses on the poets' art rather than the biographical context of Birthday Letters, though it does not draw a neat distinction between their lives and their poetry - rather it demonstrates how Birthday Letters itself treats the relationship of art to life thematically. The introduction outlines the context of the volume's genesis and publication and the notions of poetry, myth and drama out of which Hughes works, and introduces the central metaphor of metamorphosis as figured in Ariel's song "Full Fathom Five" from The Tempest, as well as the importance of that play to Plath. Each of the chapters that follow focusses on a cluster of inter-related imagery through a discussion of four or five key poems. Chapter One examines Hughes's portrayal of himself as imprisoned by Plath's poetic portraits, and relates this to the recurring motifs of the snapshot and the Medusa myth. The poems discussed emphasize Hughes's consciousness of the metamorphic and "magical" relationship of art to life. The second chapter discusses Hughes's use of the myth of the labyrinth and the Minotaur, tracing it back to Plath's writings and reading, and pointing out its self-reflexivity: the labyrinth figures Hughes's own loss as well as the labyrinthine nature of writing. The third chapter considers the themes of possession and loss, and how they attach themselves to images of houses and jewels. Possession and loss tum, self-reflexively, upon issues of inheritance and remembrance, notably Hughes's inheritance of Plath's poetic legacy, and his remembrance of her and her poetry through his own poetry. The conclusion pursues connections between the observations made in the separate chapters, outlining the larger context out of which the poems emerge, and returning to the trope of metamorphosis as figured in "Full Fathom Five"

Three works by Tippett stand together among his compositions because of their similarity of subject and performance medium. All are large works for soloists, chorus and orchestra, on meditative librettos, and intended for unstaged presentation. Only A Child of Our Time is given the genre designation "oratorio" by Tippett. An in-depth analysis of these works and the model for A Child of Our Time, Handel's Messiah, reveals that though they neither present religious subjects nor, in the case of The Vision of Saint Augustine and The Mask of Time, exhibit traditional formal divisions associated with oratorio, Tippett's works do indeed belong to the oratorio repertoire of the twentieth century.

Johannesburg, October 2016. / Rainfall is a complex phenomenon, which has previously been explored by assessing rainfall patterns in time and space, typically using ground-based weather stations. Rainfall patterns in southern Africa tend to have a direct impact on vegetation growth and surface water availability, and an indirect impact on animal movement. This study investigated rainfall in Botswana by analysing changes in spatial and temporal patterns from 1998 to 2013, using satellite imagery. Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 3B43 dataset (1998-2013) was used to document monthly rainfall magnitude and variability over the 15-year period. Additionally, a GIS spatial analysis approach, the Anselin Local Moran’s I tool, was used to determine changes (i.e. persistence) of rainfall conditions on a year by year basis during the study period. WorldClim precipitation data (1950-2000) were utilised as a longer term average reference dataset against which TRMM data could be compared. This study found that the rainy season consisted of relatively high rainfall magnitudes and variability, while the post rainy season consisted of relatively lower rainfall magnitudes and variability across Botswana. Higher magnitudes persisted into April, indicating the occurrence of late summer rainfall during this observation period. From a regional perspective, the Okavango Delta remained a region of relatively higher rainfall magnitude and variability compared to surrounding regions, regardless of the season. The rainy season was associated with a high frequency of rainfall events above the long term WorldClim average, and the post rainy season with a high frequency of rainfall below the long term WorldClim average. The spatial analysis indicated an annual persistence of high rainfall clusters in northern Botswana, and a persistence of low rainfall clusters in southern Botswana throughout the 15-year analysis. In addition, a progressive drying trend towards the end of the time series was observed. These findings suggest that Botswana has experienced both wetter conditions and drier conditions within the 15-year analysis period, than have been historically documented. The progressive drying trend towards the end of the time series may be indicative of a changing climate in Botswana. However, due to the length of this analysis period it cannot be proven conclusively that the detected wetter and drier conditions, than historically documented, are a signal of climate change. This rainfall analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of recent spatial and temporal rainfall patterns and changes in Botswana. More specifically, this rainfall study fits into a bigger research project focused on herbivore conservation in Botswana. Together, these studies will collectively enable protected areas authorities to better manage herbivore migration, improving conservation in Botswana over time. Ultimately, this study stands to make a positive contribution towards the development of existing conservation practices in Botswana. / LG2017

Ce travail propose une analyse comparative des sociologies de Pierre Bourdieu et de Niklas Luhmann face au thème de la mort de l'art. Ce que nous nous proposons de faire ici, c'est un travail sociologique théorique qui examine le concept de la mort de l'art en faisant une analyse comparative de la sociologie de l'art de Pierre Bourdieu et celle de Niklas Luhmann. Tel que mentionné, il s'agit ici d'examiner comment chacune se mesure au thème de la mort de l'art et comment leurs répliques s'inscrivent dans la tradition sociologique. Le travail débute avec une présentation des déclarations de la mort de l'art au sein de la théorie sociale, notamment celles de Hegel et de Adorno. Ensuite, la présentation des sociologies de l'art de Pierre Bourdieu et de Niklas Luhmann a lieu. Nous terminons avec une analyse comparative des sociologies de l'art de Bourdieu et de Luhmann face au thème de la mort de l'art.
